PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />.AD_Ep. ea! of ..B.rad!ey tIirst to a decision of the Design Review Board denying an <br />application for a revision of the signing program for t.he building located at <br />915 Main Street <br /> Mr. Harris presented his report dated November 8, 1978, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer decla.red the public hearing open. <br /> <br /> Mr. Bradley Hirst, appellant, explained the signing program for the building <br />at 915 Main Street and stated that he felt Council should consider the individ- <br />uality of each business. <br /> <br /> Mr. Bob Piper, representing All-State Realtors, stated this firm has a standard <br />logo for their business offices throughout California and he felt the sign was <br />appropriate and would not detract from other signs in the complex. He cited <br />various signing on Main Street being inconsistent with the requirements of the <br />Sign Ordinance. <br /> <br /> No one ~n the audience spoke in opposition to the appeal. <br /> <br /> There being no further public testimony, Mayor Mercer declared the public <br />hearing <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes stated he felt the Sign Ordinance should be upheld and <br />he would support the decision of ~he Design Review Board and staff reccmmendations. <br />Councilmember Kephart concurred, <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he 'felt the sign should be Dermitted as presented to allow <br />this local businessn~an to batter compete with already-established businesses. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by ~yor Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember <br />Wood, to approve the appeal of Bradley Hirst to a decision of the Design Review <br />Board denying an application for a revision of the signing program for the build- <br />ing located at 915 ~in Street. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilman Wood and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: Councilmen Brandes and Kephart <br />ABSENT: Councilman Butler <br /> <br /> By the above action, Resolution No. 78-282, denying the appeal of Bradley <br />Hirst to a decision of the Design Review Board denying an application for a <br />revision of the signing program for the building located at 915 Main Street, is <br />adopted. <br /> <br />~pplication of the City Council to rezone three parcels of land located in the <br />Mission Park area: a 4 acre lot located on the south side of Junipero Street <br />m_jidway between Sunol Boulevard and Sonoma Drive to be rezoned from RM-1500 <br />(Multiple-Family Residential - 1500 sq. ft. per unit). District to the P~-4000 <br />(Mu.!tiple Family Residential - 400p s~. ft. per unit) District; a 2.5 acre lot <br />located on the south side of Junip.ero Street at Sunol Boulevard to be rezoned <br />from the R-1-6500 (Single Family Residential) District to the P (Public and <br />Institutional) Distr~ct; and a 1.2 acre lot located at the southwest corner of <br />Sonoma Drive and San carlos_Nay from the P~I-1500 District to the RM-4,000 Dis- <br />trict.
