MINUTES of THE MEETING of THE CITY COUNCIL June 12, 1979 CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG Mayor Frank Brandes, Jr., called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at 8:00 P.M., and then led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. ROLL CALL Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows: Councilmembers Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes were present.' Council- member Butler was absent. Mr. Brown, City Manager, Mr. Levine, City Attorney, Mr. Campbell, Director of Public Works and Utilities, Mr. Harris, Director of Planning and Community Development, and Mr. Walker, Assistant to the City Manager, were present. AGE~AAMENDMENTS Mr. Brown stated that item lla - Determination of Conformance with the General Plan for an ll-lot residential PUD (Planned Unit Development) proposed on 55 acres of the 73 acre site located west of Foothill Road and north of Longview Drive, should be continued to the meeting of June 26, 1979, at the request of the appli- cant. CONSENT CALENDAR It was moved by Councilmember Wood, and seconded by Councilmember Mercer, that the following items listed on the Consent Calendar be approved: a. Approval of City Council Minutes for 5-22-79, 6-4-79, and 6-5-79. b. Adoption of Resolution No. 79-93!a~pproving Plans and Specifications and authorizing Call for Bids for the Improvements to the Veterans Memorial Building. c. Adoption of Resolution No. 79-94, awarding contract for Assessment District No. 1974-3, Stoneridge Drive, Signals and Lighting, to Howard Electric, Inc., 1336 Bayshore Highway, San Jose, in the amount of $95,779.00. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmen Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes NOES: None ABSENT: Councilman Butler ~TTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS Councilmember Wood requested that the Staff Traffic Committee investigate the feasibility of putting in dividers instead of medians on Hopyard Road and Valley Avenue to allow more space for wal~ays and bicycle paths. Councilmember Wood asked if the City could assist in alleviating the school bussing problem in the Pleasanton Meadows area. Mr. Brown advised that the City has no plans for public or mass transit.
