After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Kephart, and seconded by <br />Councilmember Wood, that Resolution No. 79-92, approving the addition of two <br />firefighter positions to the Fire Department, authorizing that these positions <br />be filled 4mmediately from the current eligibility list, and amending the 1978- <br />79 Budget accordingly, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Butler <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br />~pplication for Filing of Late Claim; Cindy Lee Metz, Min0~ <br /> Mr. Levine presented his report dated ~y 7, 1979, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Kephart, <br />that Resolution No. 79-93, authorizing the filing of a late claim for Cindy Lee <br />Metz, minor, relative to an automobile-bicycle injury on Tawny Drive in Pleasanton, <br />be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Butler <br /> <br />Report, R~: Regulation of Noise <br />Mr. Levine presented his report dated ~y 17, 1979, regarding this matter, <br />requesting additional time to complete a noise control ordinance. <br /> <br /> Council approved the City Attorney's request for an additional 60 days to <br />draft and present a noise control ordinance. <br /> <br />William S~e.~ney v. CitX of Pleasanton <br /> Mr. Levine presented an oral report regarding this matter, advising Council <br />that the City's insurance carrier had settled a claim dated February 10, 1977, <br />of William Sweeney in the amount of $3,000.00, for a dog bite by the City's <br />police dog. <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS (Contd.) <br /> Councilmember Mercer stated the fence behind the Safeway Shopping Center was <br />in need of repair and suggested an opening be provided to prevent persons going <br />over the fence or tearing a hole to get through. Council instructed staff to <br />contact the shopping center regarding this matter. <br /> <br />CO~fUNICATIONS <br /> There were no Communications presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />CI'Ff COUNCIL CALENDAR <br /> Mr. Brown presented the Calendar for the information of the Council. <br /> <br />ADJOURN~EN~ <br /> There being ~o further business at 10~20 P.M., it was moved by Councilmember <br />Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember ~ood, that the meeting be adjourned to meet <br />again in Budget Session on June ~, 1979, 7~30 P.M., Fairgrounds Cafeteria. <br />The roll call vote was as follows~ <br />AYES: Councilmen Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Butler <br /> <br /> 9. 5/22/79 <br /> <br /> <br />
