REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council: Facilit7 PrOposal <br /> Mr. Brown presented his report dated ~y 16, 1979, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Mr. Martin Inderbitzen, Attorney representing Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council, <br />stated this group concurred with the report and recommendations of the City Manager, <br />and would like to pursue detailed negotiations of an agreement. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by <br />Councilmember Kephart, that Councilmember Kephart, the City }~nager and City <br />Attorney meet with representatives of Pleasanton Cultural Arts Council to pre- <br />pare a draft agreement for the dedication of 2½ acres of land at the Civic Center <br />site for the development of a multi-purpose cultural facility, for review by the <br />City Council. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Kephart, Mercerm Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Butler <br /> <br />Parkin~ of Recreational Vehicles in Residential Areas <br /> Mr. Brown presented the report of the Director of Planning and Community <br />Development dated May 17, 1979, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Kephart stated this report did not contain the information that <br />he had requested. He stated he wanted information from other cities regarding <br />their ordinances relative to on-street parking, and also several alternatives <br />that the Council could review for control and enforcement to prohibit on-street <br />parking of recreational vehicles. <br /> <br /> Considerable Council discussion ensued regarding parking of towing vehicles <br />over 3 tons, zoning codes and ordinances already in effect, definition of re- <br />creational vehicles, and enforcement by complaint of citizens. <br /> <br /> Mr. William Kovac, 3124 Weymouth Court, stated he had obtained information <br />regarding the parking of recreational vehicles on the street from various cities <br />because of a problem at his residence. He stated he supported the adoption of <br />an ordinance to prohibit on-street parking of recreational vehicles. <br /> <br /> Mr. Bob Gray, 2350 Willet Way, stated he owned a recreational vehicle which <br />he kept in a storage place but when loading and unloading for trips he parked in <br />front of his residence. He felt this should be allowed for short periods of time <br />and requested Council to take this into consideration. Mr. Gray added that there <br />were numerous automobiles parked on the street at all times, which were sometimes <br />unsightly and dangerous. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Marge Turley, 4178 Francisco Street, stated she and her husband had <br />recently retired and purchased a motor home and that the only place they could <br />park it was on the street in front of their house. She stated there had been <br />no complaints from the neighbors and she felt they should be allowed to use the <br />street to park their recreational vehicle. <br /> <br /> After discussion, Council requested another report from staff with additional <br />information regarding on-street parking of recreational vehicles, and setting a <br />public hearing regarding this matter tentatively for June 26, 1979, 8:00 P.M., <br />Cultural Arts Building. <br /> <br /> 7. 5/22/79 <br /> <br /> <br />
