Adoption of Resolution No. 79-88, awarding contract for Assessment District <br /> No. 1974-5, Stoneridge Street Improvements, to Redgwick Construction Company, <br /> in the amount of $1,068,053.30. <br /> <br />j.Adoption of Resolution No. 79-89, approving holding tank application from <br /> Earl Adams Tile and Coping Company, 3687 Santa Rita Road. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Butler <br /> <br />}~TTERS INITAITED BY COUNCI~.IKMBERS <br /> Councilmember Mercer stated that the signal light at Hopyard Road and Valley <br />Avenue was very difficult to read between 6:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m., when turning from <br />Valley Avenue, because of the sun. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer stated that the Zone 7 Canal was still very littered and <br />he requested staff to follow up on this problem. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Kephart stated he had received several complaints from residents <br />on Corte Espada regarding street lighting, and he requested staff to investigate <br />this matter. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Kephart reported on a meeting with Supervisor Valerie Raymond <br />and representatives of the State Department of Corrections regarding a proposed <br />jail facility for women at Santa Rita. Councilmember Kephart advised there would <br />be a judicial council formed to review the plan for this proposed institution and <br />he felt Pleasanton should have representation on this committee. After discussion, <br />Council concurred that Mayor Brandes be authorized to send a letter to the Board <br />of Supervisors requesting that Councilmember Kephart be considered for appointment <br />on the judicial council to review the proposed jail facility plan for a women's <br />institution at Santa Rita. <br /> <br /> Mayor Brandes stated that Council had received an invitation to participate in <br />a pre-annual Livermore Rodeo celebration on May 24th when Livemore officials will <br />ride a stagecoach to Pleasanton. Pleasanton City officials are requested to meet <br />them at the Cheese Factory at 6:15 p.m., with formal activities at the Safeway <br />Shopping Center later in the evening. <br /> <br /> Mayor Brandes stated that in light of the events this week in San Francisco <br />relating to the Dan White trial decision, he requested Council authorization to <br />send a letter to the appropriate legislators supporting their proposed legislation <br />to make definition of the law more clear and understandable as it relates to the <br />law and the death penalty. Councilmember Kephart concurred. Councilmembers Mercer <br />and Wood disagreed stating they did not feel this was a matter that concerned the <br /> City. <br /> 2. 5/22/79 <br /> <br /> <br />
