Mr. Brown presented a detailed progress report on the status of the railroad <br />track consolidation project. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br />Action on Berwick Claim <br /> Mr. Levine presented his report dated February 22, 1979, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and secondedlby Councilmember Butler, <br />that Resolution No. 79-25, denying the Claim of Richard Berwick, Sr., et al, vs. <br />City of Pleasanton, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Kephart, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Wa~e Freeze Case <br /> Mr. Levine presented his report dated February 22, 1979, regarding this matter, <br />stating that the impact of this decision for the City of Pleasanton is two-fold: <br />(1) the Firefighters Union, with whom the City had an existing contract to provide <br />a wage increase as of July 1, 1978, is entitled to that wage increase retroactively <br />to July 1, 1978; and (2) the City may enter into agreements with its employees, <br />including appointed employees, providing wage increases for this fiscal year, that <br />is, of course, no requirement that wage increases not previously contracted for be <br />given and that such wage increases will in no way affect the Ctty's right to bail- <br />out funds. <br /> <br /> This item was for the information of the Council and no action was required or <br />taken by them. <br /> <br />Recommended Position Reclassifications <br /> Mr. Brown presented the report of the Assistant to the City Manager-Miller, <br />dated February 7, 1979, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wood expressed opposition to the reclassifications until further <br />revie~¢ of the financial situation of the City. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by <br />Councilmember Butler, that Resolution No. 79-26, approving the change of job titles <br />as follows: <br /> <br /> Present Title Number of Positions New Title <br /> Duplicating Machine Operator 1 Senior MT/ST Operator <br /> Building Maintenance Man 2 Custodian <br /> Building Maintenance Supervisor 1 Lead Custodian <br /> Government Building Foreman 1 Government Buildings Supervisor <br /> Mmintemance Man/Mechanic 1 Equipment Mechanic <br /> <br />and approving the following two reclassifications and salary range adjustments <br />(these salary range adjustments are permissible under SB 154), and amending the <br />fiscal year budget accordingly: <br /> <br /> Present Classification/Salary Range Approved Classification/Salary Ra~.g.e <br /> Building Maintenance Man $889-$1080 Aquatic Center Maintenance Worker $1070-$1300 <br /> Typist Clerk $807-$983 Secretary $1030-$1251 <br /> <br />be adopted. <br /> <br /> 7. 2/27/79 <br /> <br /> <br />
