<br />Additional Police Assistant Position
<br /> Mr. Brown presented the report of the Chief of Police dated February 5, 1979,
<br />regarding this matter.
<br />
<br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Mayor Mercer, that
<br />Resolution No. 79-18, adding the position of Police Assistant in the Police De-
<br />partment, and amending the budget by $5,800.00 to fund the position for the
<br />balance of 1978-79, be adopted.

<br />Public Works Inspection Services
<br /> Mr. Campbell presented his report dated February 6,.1979, regarding this
<br />matter.
<br />
<br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by
<br />Councilmember Kephart, that Resolution No. 79-19, authorizing two additional
<br />Public Works Inspectors and the replacement of the retiring Public Works In-
<br />spector, and amending the 1978-79 Budget by $7,000.00 to fund these positions
<br />for the balance of the fiscal year, be adopted.

<br /> It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Wood,
<br />that Resolution No. 79-20, approving the Plans and Specifications and authoriz-
<br />ing Call for Bids for the improvements of Peters Avenue from Rose to St. Mary
<br />Street, be adopted.

<br /> i,~. Brown presented his report dated February 7, 1979, regarding the City
<br />Council Agenda Planning Report for February, March, and April.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Brown advised that four applications had been received for the two
<br />vacancies on the Park and Recreation Commission at the deadline of March 9,
<br />1979. After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded
<br />by Councilmember Wood, to extend the deadline to March 1, 1979, for receiving
<br />resumes for consideration as member on the Park and Recreation Commission, to
<br />publicize in the local newspapers, and to request the present Commissioners
<br />Gomez and Wi!fley to remain in their positions until such time as they are
<br />replaced.
