Mr. Levine presented his oral report regarding control of hazardous materials <br />and train speeds through Pleasanton, stating that it may be possible to control, <br />but not prohibit, the shipment of dangerous commodities. The banning of shipments <br />would probably be an undue burden on Interstate Commerce and would not be allowed. <br />He stated that with regard to train speeds that some cities do regulate these and <br />it is possible that Pleasanton could control speed of trains through the City. <br />Mayor Mercer requested a report on further investigation of what the City could <br />do to regulate train speeds in connection with the shipment of dangerous commodi- <br />ties through Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br /> The following persons spoke in favor of the EnvirOnmental Impact Report for <br />the railroad track consolidation project: <br /> <br /> Joseph Madden, 3851 Vineyard Avenue <br /> Aric Granville, President of the Chamber of Commerce, representing the <br /> Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and 300 General Membership, <br /> and the Industrial-Commercial Committee <br /> Earl Augusta, 3963 Stanley Boulevard, stated he was in'favor of portions <br /> of the EIR but requested it be amended to include the option of an <br /> access road at the rear of the properties on Stanley Boulevard in <br /> connection with the Southern Pacific alternative <br /> Bill I~irst, 478 Ewing Drive <br /> <br /> The following persons spoke in opposition to the Environmental Impact Report: <br /> <br /> Olga Morrow, 4594 Del Valle Parkway, representing Pleasanton Safe Streets <br /> Association <br /> Joy Robinson, representing the League of Women Voters <br /> Bill Vigil, 3245 Monmouth Court, representing Pleasanton Meadows home- <br /> owners Association <br /> Don Anger, 541 St. Mary Street <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer recessed the meeting at 9:25 P.M., to excuse the Boy Scouts <br />from the meeting. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer r~conveaed the meeting at 9:35 P.M. <br /> <br /> The public hearing on the railroad track consolidation project continued <br />with the follo~ing persons speaking in opposition to the Environmental impact <br />Report: <br /> <br /> Sandy Gunnarson, 517 St. Mary Street <br /> .~melia Wilcox, 471 Bernal Avenue <br /> George Withers, 4180 Jensen Street <br /> DodyMason, 7055 Via Quito <br /> Evelyn King, 4584 First Street <br /> Noel Anger, 541 St. Mary Street <br /> Leo tteckathorn, 4202 Stanley Boulevard <br /> Michael Parsons, 4064 Jensen Street <br /> Thurman Caudill, 4715 Augustine Street <br /> Franklin Lowenthal, 4586 Gatetree Circle <br /> Kenneth Santoo, 4086 Stanley Boulevard <br /> ~.~urice Jones, 4023 Stanley Boulevard <br /> <br /> 4. 2/13/79 <br /> <br /> <br />
