Mayor Brandes stated he was opposed to this matter and felt it was a waste of <br />money. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Kephart, and seconded by Councilmember Mercer, <br /> that Resolution No. 79-124, authorizing staff to enter an agreement with Field Re- <br /> search Corporation, to complete the Housing Cost Survey with a sample size of 300 <br /> interviews at a total cost of $6,000.00, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Butler, Kephart, and Mercer <br />NOES: Mayor Brandes <br />ABSENT: Councilman Wood <br /> <br />Matters for the Information of the Council <br /> Mr. Brown presented the attendance reports of the Planning Commission, Park <br />and Recreation Commission, and the Human Services Commission, for the period <br />January 1-June 30, 1979. <br /> <br />Rejection of Bids Re: Veterans Buildin~'HCD Improvement Pro]ect <br /> Mr. Brown presented the report of the Assistant to the City Manager dated <br />July 18, 1979, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mayor Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Kephart, that <br />Resolution No. 79-125, after review of the public bids for the Veterans Building <br />Improvement Project and finding the bids unacceptable because they exceed the <br />funds available to undertake the project, reject all bids and authorize the staff <br />to negotiate acceptable bids for the work with local subcontractors and enter <br />into an agreement to undertake the project within the HCD allocation of $40,000.00, <br />be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Butler, Kephart, Mercer, and MayorBrandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Wood <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br />Confirmation of Weed Abatement Costs <br /> The City Attorney presented his report dated July 24, 1979, regarding this <br />matter. He advised that the appropriate notices had been posted and that it was <br />now in order to hold the public hearing on this item. <br /> <br /> Mayor Brandes declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br /> No one in the audience spoke in favor of or in opposition to this item. <br /> Mayor Brandes declared the public hearing Closed. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Butler, <br />that Resolution No. 79-126, after hearing no objections by the property owners, <br />confiN the costs of the abatement are deemed by law to constitute a special <br />assessment against and ~en upon the parcel of property and will be added by the <br />Treasurer-Tax Collector to the next regular tax bill for each parcel, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Butler, Kephart, Mercer, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Wood <br /> <br /> 16. 7/24/79 <br /> <br /> <br />
