Mr. John Ferrari, Realtor, advised that some apartments are being converted at a cost lower than new construction, and this fact should be taken into con- sideration when reviewing the condominium conversion ordinance. After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Mohr, and seconded by Council- member Wood, to amend and reintroduce Ordinance No. 936 to include an annual review process and to prevent new apartments from being converted to condominiums for at least five years. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers }Iohr and Wood NOES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, and Mayor Mercer ABSENT: None Councilmember Kephart stated he felt that Planning Commission should have taken a position on this ordinance. Councilmember Butler and Mayor Mercer reiterated their concern regarding the need for increased rental housing in Pleasanton, and felt that Ordinance No. 936 was too restrictive and therefore should not be adopted. It was moved by Councilmember Wood, and seconded by Councilmember ~Iohr, to table the adoption of Ordinance No. 936 until approval of the Housing Element of the General Plan. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers Mohr and Wood NOES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, and Mayor Mercer ABSENT: None It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Kephart, that Ordinance No. 936, regulating Condominium Conversions in the City of Pleasanton, be adopted. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmember Mohr NOES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Wood, and Mayor Mercer ABSENT: None Due to the above vote, Mayor Mercer dismissed this item from any further Council action.
