1

Mayor Mercer stated he had called Mr. Bill Jardim of the East Bay Regional Park
District, requesting them to reschedule their public hearing meeting tonight regard-
ing the proposed water slide so that Councilmembers could attend. Mr, Jardim ad-
vised that after receiving the City's written comments on the Environmental Impact
Report, East Bay Regional Park District would not make a decision at their meeting
tonight, and hinted at displeasure in receiving the City's comments so late. The
City Attorney noted for the record that the deadline by East Bay Regional Park Dis-
trict for receiving written comments on the Environmental Impact Report was 5:00
p.m., June 23, 1980, and the City had complied with this deadline. The City Attorney
also advised there had been press coverage regarding an agreement between the
developer and the City relative to Valley Avenue extension but he had not seen any
document relative to this matter. After discussion, Mayor Mercer instructed staff
to find out when the next public hearing meeting of the East Bay Regional Park
District would be held. He encouraged Councilmembers to attend the meeting to
voice the City's position in opposition to the water slide at Shadow Cliffs Park
unless traffic problems can be solved.

CITY COUNCIL CALENDAR
Mr. Walker presented the Calendar for the information of the Council.

After discussion, Council tentatively scheduled July 7, 1980, to interview
candidates for the Park and Recreation Commission.

Councilmember Mohr requested that her name and also that of Councilmember Wood
be shown as liaison tD the Planning Commission.

Mr. Walker reminded Council of the Mayors' Conference on July 2, 1980, 6:30 p.m.,
at the Fairgrounds Administration Building.
t

EXECUTIVE SESSION
Mayor Mercer recessed the meeting at 10:20 P.M,, to an Executive Session to
discuss litigation.

Mayor Mercer reconvened the meeting at 11:00 P.M.

ADJOURNMINT
There being no further business at 11:05 P.M., it was moved by Councilmember
Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Wood, that the meeting be adjourned to meet
again in Regula= Session on July 8, 1980, 8:00 P.M., at the Cultural Arts Building.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilmembers Kephart

Respectfully submitted,

7. 6/24/80
