The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Councilmember Butler abstained from voting on approval of the City Council <br />Minutes for May 13, 1980, due to his absence from that meeting. <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCLLMEMBERS <br /> Councilmember Kephart advised there was a possibility of Cuban Refugees being <br />relocated at Camp Parks. He stated that with the many problems already inherent to <br />this area he felt that this site should not be considered for a refugee camp because <br />of the adverse impact it would have on the community and that it would not be in the <br />best interests of the City. After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Kephart, <br />and seconded by Mayor Mercer, that a letter be directed to the Department of the Amy <br />requesting that Camp Parks not be considered as a refugee camp for Cuban Refugees. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmember Kephart <br />NOES: Councilmembers Butler, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />ABSENT: None <br /> Cit ' <br /> Councilmember Wood asked if the y s ordinances reflected the terminology of <br />the word "councilmember", or "councilman". The City Attorney advised he would re- <br />search this matter and report back to Council. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer advised he had received a letter from Henry Bettencourt regarding <br />sewer capacity for an 83 acre parcel of property located at Hopyard Road and Stone- <br />ridge. ~yor Mercer requested this matter be referred to the Sewer Committee for <br />review and recommendation. Council concurred. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he had received a letter from the Department of Transporta- <br />tion advising him of a Celttans public hearing regarding the Arroyo De La Laguna <br />Bridge on Verona Road that is scheduled on June 18, 1980, 7:30 p.m., at the Cultural <br />Arts Building. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer presented a letter from Supervisor Valetie RaymOnd to the Director <br />of Transportation, in which a change to lower priority of the Castro Valley entrance <br />to 1-580 is discussed. Mayor Mercer requested that the City staff be instructed to <br />send a letter to the Department of Transportation asking that the Castro Valley <br />interchange be re-prioritized on the priority list to a higher number. Council con- <br />curred. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he had received a packet of material from Holmes Ambulance <br />Service regarding response times, back-up, etc. Mayor Mercer referred this informa- <br />tion to the City Manager and instructed him to report back to City Council on the <br />matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated that the Pleasanton Girls Soccer team under 14th years old, <br />tmd won the Western Division competition, which included district, regional and <br />state meets.
