Councilmember Mercer <br />and the City Attorney advised they would contact the appropriate legislators re- <br />garding this matter. <br /> <br /> Southwest Nuclear Violation Update <br /> Mr. Levine presented a letter from Wtlliam Hirst, representinE Southwest Nuclear, <br />dated March 3, 1980, stating that Southwest Nuclear has been advised that they can <br />resume use of the Nevada disposal site and that they anticipate no difficulty in <br />complying with the thirty day deadline imposed by reason of the recently entered into <br />agreement with the City which would expire the end of the day March 13, 1980. <br /> <br /> Mr. Levine stated that the Fire Chief had inspected the subject site last week <br />and it looked like the deadline would be met. <br /> <br /> Mr. Levine advise~ this matter would be discussed further in Executive Session. <br /> <br />LanSuage for Ballot Measure for-Industrial Expansion <br /> Mr. Levine presented his report dated March 6, 1980, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer suggested a language change for the measure. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councihnember Mercer, and seconded by Mayor <br />Brandes, that Resolution No. 80-62, placing a Ballot measure on the June ballot, <br />a measure seeking the approval of the electorate to purchase the additional capacity <br />in the Livenmore A~sdor Valley Water Management Agency pipeline project for indus- <br />trial and non-retail commercial developments, to read as follows: <br /> <br /> "Shall the City of Pleasanton acquire 500,000 gallons of additiohal <br /> pipeline capacity for industrial (including non-retail commercial) <br /> uses in the LivermoreAmador Valley Water Management Agency pipeline. <br /> All costs relating to such expansion to be paid by the private <br /> developer with no cost to the taxpayers." <br /> <br />be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Butler, Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />A~SENT: None <br /> <br /> Council discussion ensued regarding whether or not to allow rebuttals to this <br />measure. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Butler, that <br />no rebuttals be allowed on the above June ballot measure. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Butler, Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br />Sewer Problems in Remen Tract Area <br /> Mr. Campbell presented his memorandum dated March 6, 19~0, regarding this matter. <br />He stated a request for sewer hook-up had been received from Mr. and Mrs. Ed Shannon, <br />at 3536 Vine Street.
