291 <br /> <br /> MINUTES <br />-- of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> April 14, 1981 <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG <br /> Mayor Kenneth Mercer called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at <br /> 8:00 P.M., and then led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br /> Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer were present. Mr. <br /> Walker, City Manager, Mr. Levine, City Attorney, Mr. Warnick, Director of Public <br /> Works and Utilities, and Mr. Harris, Director of Planning and Community Develop- <br /> ment, were present. <br /> <br /> AGENDAAMENDMENTS <br /> Mr. Walker advised that an Executive Session would be held at the conclusion <br /> of this meeting to discuss pending litigation. <br /> <br /> REORGANIZATION OF CITY COUNCIL <br /> Mayor Mercer stated it was now in order to accept nominations for Mayor. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Wood, that <br /> Resolution No. 81-83, reappointing Kenneth R. Mercer as Mayor of the City of <br /> Pleasanton for a one year term, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he was honored to be Mayor of Pleasanton and thanked the <br /> City Council for allowing him to serve as Mayor for another year. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated it was now in order to accept nominations for-Vice Mayor. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Wood, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr, that <br /> Resolution No. 81-84, appointing Robert E. Butler as Vice Mayor of the City of <br /> Pleasanton for a term of one year, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Butler expressed his appreciation to the City Council for their <br /> support in this appointment. <br /> <br /> CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE AND LIAISON ASSIGNMENTS <br /> Mayor Mercer stated that he would be assigning Councilmembers as liaison to <br /> the various Commissions, Boards, and Committees for the 1981-82 year, and requested <br /> that Councilmembers let him know within the next week which assignments they would <br /> prefer. <br /> <br /> <br />
