<br /> hearing in regard to the same to be held in the Pleasanton Council Chambers,
<br /> Alameda County Fairgrounds, Pleasanton, at 8:00 P.M., on April 14, 1981.

<br /> f. Adoption of Resolution No. 81-72, approving Right-of-Way Agreement on Peters
<br /> Avenue with Jack Fiorio, and authorizing the City Manager to execute the Cer-
<br /> tificates of Acceptance of Real Property, authorizing that the Grant Deeds be
<br /> recorded with the Alameda County Recorder, Authorizing the Director of Public
<br /> Works and Mayor to execute the Real Property Purchase Contract, and authorizing
<br /> theMayor and City Clerk to execute the Grant Deed to Lillie M. Fiorio, a widow.

<br /> g. Adoption of Resolution No. 81-73, accepting Improvements for Mission Hill Park,
<br /> Phase I, approving final progress payment to Valley Crest Landscape, Inc., 7043
<br /> Commerce Circle, Pleasanton, in the amount of $35,678.70, with the 10% retention
<br /> in the amount of $7,520.80 to be released to the contractor after the expiration
<br /> of the 35-day retention period, and authorizing the City Attorney to file the
<br /> Notice of Completion.

<br /> The roll call vote was as follows:
<br /> AYES: Councilmembers Kephart, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer
<br /> NOES: None
<br /> ABSENT: Councilmember Butler

<br /> Mayor Mercer introduced Doug Johnson and Trina Maxson, who represent the World
<br /> Asian Hunger Relief Project sponsored by the Presbyterian Church. Miss Maxson dis-
<br /> tributed pamphlets explaining the program, and stated that 40% of the donated funds
<br /> go to World Vision with the remaining 60% to a hunger project of their choice. She
<br /> requested Council to declare Saturday, March 28, 1981, as Hunger Awareness Day, and
<br /> also asked that Council support the 40 high school students in thirty hours of famine
<br /> by donating to this cause. Council pledged their support to this program. Miss
<br /> Maxson presented Mayor Mercer with a tee shirt on which was written "Let it Growl"
<br /> to promote Hunger Awareness Day.-

<br /> MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS
<br /> Discussion of Nonprof.~t Corporation for City Council Chamber
<br /> Mayor Mercer stated he felt there had been some misunderstanding regarding the
<br /> newly formed Nonprofit Corporation for City Council Chambers. He advised that this
<br /> is a community-wide project and that he expects financial support from the home-
<br /> owners associations, real estate companies, developers, and various civic organi-
<br /> zations as well as the entire community to get the building underway. He stated the
<br /> proposed City Council Chamber building is planned to be attached to the present City
<br /> Hall building, and that it would not have any effect on the future Cultural Arts
<br /> Center proposed to be constructed at the Citic Center site. Mayor Mercer requested
<br /> Council to adopt a resolution in total support of the proposed City Council Chambers.
<br />· It was moved by Councilmember Wood, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr, that Resolu-
<br /> tion No. 81-71, supporting the Nonprofit Corporation for City Council Chambers in
<br /> the construction of a Council Chamber, be adopted.
<br /> The roll call vote was as follows:

<br /> Mayor Mercer urged all the people of Pleasanton to be involved and contribute
