Adoption of Resolution No. 81-261, accepting ProjeCt No. 81-11, sidewalk repair <br /> on various City streets, approving payment in the amount of $1,861.48 to Sposeto <br /> Construction Company, 34151 Zwissig Way, Union City, and authorizing the filing <br /> of a Notice of Completion. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Councilmember Kephart abstained from voting on approval of the City Council <br /> Minutes for July 28, 1981, due to his absence from that meeting. <br /> <br /> MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS <br /> Councilmember Wood and Mayor Mercer commended the young people of Pleasanton <br /> who do volunteer work in the water safety program, and stated they felt the press <br /> should give more coverage to the youth who do such outstanding activities for the <br /> community. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Butler stated he had received several complaints regarding the <br /> problems with the seal coat project in Highland Oakes. Mr. Warnick advised the <br /> seal coat paving was inferior but should be dry soon, and to refer any claims to <br /> his office for handling. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer requested staff to investigate whether or not the City of Oakland <br /> is cancelling its contract with the Alameda Court System and various cities to not <br /> house prisoners at their jail facility in Oakland because of a dispute over finances. <br /> He added that these. prisons would have to be held at Santa Rita Jail. Councilmember <br /> Kephart stated he had been advised that a contract exists with the State, and that <br /> prisoners are being taken from the Dual Vocational Institute to Santa Rita Jail <br /> despite its substandard conditions.
