Adoption of Resolution No. 81-261, accepting ProjeCt No. 81-11, sidewalk repair on various City streets, approving payment in the amount of $1,861.48 to Sposeto Construction Company, 34151 Zwissig Way, Union City, and authorizing the filing of a Notice of Completion. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer NOES: None ABSENT: None Councilmember Kephart abstained from voting on approval of the City Council Minutes for July 28, 1981, due to his absence from that meeting. MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS Councilmember Wood and Mayor Mercer commended the young people of Pleasanton who do volunteer work in the water safety program, and stated they felt the press should give more coverage to the youth who do such outstanding activities for the community. Councilmember Butler stated he had received several complaints regarding the problems with the seal coat project in Highland Oakes. Mr. Warnick advised the seal coat paving was inferior but should be dry soon, and to refer any claims to his office for handling. Mayor Mercer requested staff to investigate whether or not the City of Oakland is cancelling its contract with the Alameda Court System and various cities to not house prisoners at their jail facility in Oakland because of a dispute over finances. He added that these. prisons would have to be held at Santa Rita Jail. Councilmember Kephart stated he had been advised that a contract exists with the State, and that prisoners are being taken from the Dual Vocational Institute to Santa Rita Jail despite its substandard conditions. He requested this matter also be investigated. CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS There were no City Council Committee Reports presented at this meeting.
