It was moved by Councilmember Kephart, and <br />seconded by Councilmember Butler, to lobby Supervisor Don Excell to support con- <br />struction of a 400-500 bed facility in Hayward rather than a smaller one, to relieve <br />the crowded conditions at Santa Rite Jail. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: C'o'~ncilmembers ~le~, Kephart, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilmember Kephart advised that Mr. Jim Bruno has been appointed as Chair- <br />person of the Park and Recreation Commission for the next year, and that the Park <br />and Recreation Commission is desirous of scheduling a Joint meeting with the City <br />Council. After discussion, Council determined to meet with the Park and Recreation <br />Commission on August 26, 1981, 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> Mr. 3udd 'Hull, 144i 'Greenwood Road, requested that the names of Councilmembers <br />and City staff be placed on the agendas in the order of their seating, for public <br />information. <br /> <br /> Mr. Chuck Weidel, representing Southern Alameda County Board of Realtors, pre- <br />sented to the Council a copy of the report of the California Association of Realtors <br />relative to Housing. He stated this group is willing to work with the City in this <br />problem area. <br /> <br /> Mr. Leo Heckathorn, 4202 Stanley Boulevard, stated there is still excessive dirt <br />around the Tam Shopping Center on Hopyard Road at Valley Avenue. Mayor Mercer in- <br />structed staff to investigate this matter. Mr. Heckathorn requested that the speed <br />limit signs on Stanley Boulevard be make more clearly viaable. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Application ~f Billy R.
