Mayor Mercer presented the Com- <br />mendation to Firefighter Chapman. <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS <br /> Councilmember Wood requested that Matt Anger be recognized for his recent <br />championship in a tennis tournament in England. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wood presented his memorandum dated July 9, 1981, regarding the <br />Alameda County Solid Waste Manage Plan and various alternatives for future action, <br />He advised that his matter will be discussed at the City Managers' meeting scheduled <br />for July 15, 1981, and that any Council action should be deferred until after this <br />time. It was moved by Councilmember Wood, and seconded by Councilmember Butler, <br />that any action relative to the Alameda C,'}unty Solid Waste Management T'Jan be tabJc<] <br />until after the meeting of the Alameda County City Managers on July 15, 1981. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Councilmember Kephart stated there is an increasing problem of parking on Stanley <br />Boulevard in the vicinity of the Water Slide at Shadow Cliffs Park. He advised that <br />vehicles are parking in the bicycle path, creating a hazardous condition for pedee~ <br />trians and bicyclists. Mayor Mercer stated that vehicles are also parking on the <br />north side of Stanley Boulevard, which creates a hazardous condition of people walk- <br />ing across Stanley Boulevard to get to the Water Slide. Mr. Robert Allen, represent- <br />ing BART, stated that BART, the East Bay Regional Park District, and the County have <br />been working together regarding the installation of a traffic signal at this location, <br />and it is anticipated that work will begin on this project by the end of the month. <br />Mr. Allen advised that the Livemore Rideo bus has service to the Water Slide, and <br />that BART bus lines will have a Stop at this location when the traffic signal is <br />installed.
