Martinez for damages due to <br /> false arrest, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Denial of the Claim of Otis Bradshaw <br /> Mr. Swift presented his report (SR 82:72) dated February 17, 1982, regarding <br /> this matter. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mohr, and seconded by Councilmember Butler~ that <br /> Resolution No. 82-79, denying the claim of Otis Bradshaw for damages to his carpet <br /> allegedly resulting from the slurry sealing of streets in his neighborhood, be <br /> adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Report on Consolidation of Elections <br /> Mr. Swift presented his Information Report (IR 82:7) dated February 17, 1982, <br /> regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he favored consolidating the municipal election with the <br /> general election because he felt it would create a larger voter turnout. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mohr stated she favored consolidating the municipal election with <br /> the primary election. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Butler stated he supports consolidating with the general election <br />because it will be a savings in cost and encourage a better turnout; and stating <br />that consolidating with the primary election might tend to be more partisan° <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wood stated he felt it should be placed on the ballot, as he did <br />not feel it is Council's decision to determine how long to stay in office° It was <br />moved by Councilmember Wood to place the issue of consolidating the municipal <br />elections with the statewide general election on the next ballot. <br /> <br /> The motion died for lack of a second. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Kephart,. <br />that Ordinance No. 1027, to be read by title only and waiving further reading <br />thereof, consolidating the general municipal election with the statewide general <br />election, the effect of which would extend councilmembers terms which would have <br />expired on the Tuesday following the April election to after the new November <br />election date, be introduced. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: Councilmembers Mohr and Wood <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Report on Cit7 Council Compensation <br /> Mr. Swift presented his Information Report (IR 82:8) dated February 17, 1982, <br />regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> 12. 2/23/82 <br /> <br /> <br />
