107 <br /> <br /> MINUTES <br /> of <br /> THE MEETING <br /> of <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> January 12, 1982 <br /> <br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG <br /> Mayor Kenneth Mercer called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at <br /> 8:00 P,M., and then led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. <br /> <br /> ROLL CALL <br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows: <br /> Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer were present. Mr. <br /> Walker, City Manager, Mr. Levine, City Attorney, Mr. Schaumburg, Associate Civil <br /> Engineer, and Mr. Harris, Director of Planning and Community Development, were <br /> present. - <br /> <br />AGE~AAMENDMENTS <br /> Mr. Walker requested that item 8g - Appeal of Wild West Stores of a decision of <br />the Design Review Board denying their application for a second wall sign on their <br />store in the Best Plaza Shopping Center located at the northeast corner of.Stoneridge <br />Drive and Springdale Avenue, be continued to the meeting of January 26, 1982, at the <br />request of the appellant. <br /> <br /> Mr. Walker requested that an item be added to the agenda as item 10a - Affordable <br /> Housing. <br /> <br /> Mr. Walker advised there would be an Executive Session held at the conclusion of <br /> this meeting to discuss litigation and labor relations. <br /> <br /> }~yor Mercer read a letter from Attorneys Varni, Fraser, Hartwell, McNichols, and <br />Rodgers, dated January 11, 1982, requesting that the Minutes of December 22, 1981, be <br />modified, under Reports of the City Attorney, page 14, to add the following regarding <br />approval of the Lee S~mmts contract: (1) that all councilmen present supported the <br />concept of a fair and equitable spread of the assessment on all undeveloped office <br />and commercial properties in the area of the Stoneridge Center; and (2) that the <br />council by refusing to add the language requested by S~mmis with regard to "Equal <br />Treatment" was following the recommendation of the City Attorney and did not intend <br />to indicate that there would be unequal treatment of undeveloped office and commercial <br />properties in the spread of ~he assessment for the Stoneridge Center. Council con- <br />curred with this addition to the Minutes of December 22, 1981,' it shown to be at Mr. <br />Varni's request. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer requested that an item be added to the agenda as item 4g - Proclaim- <br /> ing February 14, 1982, as "We Believe in Marriage Day". <br /> <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Wood, and seconded by Councilmember Butler, that <br /> the following items listed on the Consent Calendar, as amended thereto, be approved: <br /> <br />a. Approval of City Council Minutes for December 22, 1981, as amended. <br /> <br />b. Adoption of Resolution No. 82-1, approvtng Claims for the month of November, <br /> 1981, in the amount of $808,092.19. <br /> <br /> c. Adoption of Resolution No. 82-2, designating the CityManager as the City official <br /> authorized to make Retirement Applications to the Retirement System for disabled <br /> employees. <br /> <br /> <br />
