He stated the
1980's plan is a positive, up-dated plan and that Hacienda Business Park is the finest
in the State. He stated the growth management program will insure that Pleasanton
will be a city of planned progress in the future. He urged approval of the Hacienda
Business Park application.

Mr. Jim Krause, 894 Bonita, stated that one of Hacienda Business Parkis best
features is its size, assuring that there will not be haphazard development in the
North Pleasanton area; the conditions attached to approval of the applications will
provide plenty of control; the 20-25 year build-out will allow for controller growth;
and traffic flows have been successfully considered. He stated he felt Pleasanton is
fortunate to have a project of this quality and developers who express sensitivity
to the people and to the history of the community and lifestyle. He recommended
approval of the general plan amendment and the application.

Mr. Joseph Madden, 3851 Vineyard Avenue, stated he is in agreement with the
staff report and Planning Commission recommendations. He stated the benefits of
this project are great and an ideal use of the land at this location. He expressed
concern that the opponents do not make project costs increase by circulating a peti-
tion and having a referendum election.

Ms. Lynn C. Lee, 4646 Klamouth Court, stated she moved here 17 years ago when it
was difficult to get from one side of town to the other because there were no through
streets; now it is easy to go anywhere in the City and to shop at local businesses,
because of street improvements done by Hacienda Business Park.

Mr. Bill Hirst, 478 Ewing Drive, stated he has lived here since 1968 and been
involved with the planning process of the City and the desire to get desirable,
clean, single or few developer activity to the City. Mr. Hirst stated that at
that time he felt the City would probably never have the opportunity to work with
only one developer, and that the Hacienda Business Park is truly a planner's dream
and will be of considerable benefit to the City. He encouraged Council to take
actions that will allow approval of the Callahan-Pentz/Prudential project, and also
other projects of similar design.

Ms. Joan Blair, 7596 Driftwood Way, stated she is happy to be connected to
Pleasanton; she likes what she sees and would not like to see it stopped at this
point.

Mr. Dan Barboni, Pleasanton resident for many years, commended Joe Callaban and
Jack Swanson for their tremendous efforts in the Hacienda Business Park development
and the financial backing they bring with the project.

Mr. Jarrett Johnson, 4508 Mohr Avenue, stated he moved to Pleasanton; he liked
it then and he likes it now. He stated he likes the careful consideration that has
gone on relative to planning; it is a city of planned progress. He added he felt
that Hacienda Business Park will be an integral part of the City, bay area, state
and nation, because of the economic growth it will bring.

Ms. Kaye Wellman, 4565 Shearwater Road, stated she is in favor of the amendment
to the general plan and supports the Hacienda Business Park. She spoke against any
referendum, feeling that the costs would be unnecessary because the majority of
people in Pleasanton are in favor of the business park.

6. 11/8/83
