Discussion on Proceeding with LongTermAlternatives for Additional Sewer Capacity Mayor Butler presented the memorandum from the Pleasanton LAVWMA members dated October 3, 1983, regarding this matter. After considerable discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Wood, that Council direct the Sewer Committee to consider the type of study needed for long term alternatives for additional sewer capacity, the costs of such a study, and who would be involved, and report back to Council with this information. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Mercer, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Butler NOES: None ABSENT: None MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC Mr. Ben Tarver, 1144 Arak Court, read his statement to the Council regarding the growth rate of Pleasanton, and requesting Council to put an end to this unreason- able rate of development. Ms. Caria Bruen, West Del Prado, requested Council to consider the installation of a pedestrian access from the Del Prado area through the Zone 7 canal to the Foot- hill High School. She stated that with the increasing number of houses in Del Prado there will be many more students attending Foothill High School and their safety is of grave concern to the parents. After discussion, Council instructed staff to obtain the necessary information as to how to proceed with such a project, and report back as soon as possible. Mr. David Eller, 3797 Oregon Way, Livermore, speaking on behalf of Citizens for Balanced Growth, presented a copy of the Tri-Valley Subregion Study prepared by the Department of Landscape Architecture, University of California, Berkeley, to the City Council for their information and review. PUBLIC HEARINGS Application of Ponderosa Homes for PUD (Planned Unit Development)-zoning and develop- ment plan approval of a 180 lot residential development project on approximately 38 acres located west and north of the existing terminus of Hansen Drive just east of the 1-680 Fight-~y-way. Zoning for the prop~y!y..js R-1-6S00 (Single-family Resi- dential) District Consider Adoption of Mitigated Negative Declaration Mr. Harris presented his report (SR 83:427) dated September 30, 1983, regarding this matter. Mayor Butler declared the public hearing open on the application and the mitigated negative declaration. Mr. Jack Wong, representing Ponderosa Homes, stated he concurred with the staff report and Planning Commission recommendations. Mayor Butler asked if Ponderosa Homes would be willing to contribute to a pedes- trian pathway through the Zone 7 canal to Foothill High School as suggested earlier by Ms. Bruen. Mr. Wong advised he could not speak for the area that Ponderosa does not own, but would be willing to tie together on their property. No one in the audience spoke in opposition to this item. There being no further testimony, Mayor Butler declared the public hearing closed on the application and mitigated negative declaration. 4. 10/l!/SS
