191 <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wood stated he would like to thank the Vintage Hills people for <br />getting out to vote; everyone is interested in Pleasanton and that is what counts.' <br />He stated the speaker had one way of looking at the issue. He stated that each <br />Councilmember had voted in favor of the referendum election. He stated that people <br />who voted in favor of the project also needed Council representation. Councilmember <br />Wood concluded that a referendum election was cost effective versus costs that would <br />have been incurred otherwise. <br /> <br /> Mayor Butler stated that all Councilmembers are doing their job as they see best. <br /> <br /> Ms. Lynn Bock, Amador Center business person, addressed Council regarding Ordi- <br />nance No. 1051, relating to outdoor signs. She stated the restrictions of this <br />ordinance create a hardship on local downtown merchants. After discussion, Council <br />requested Ms. Bock to present her suggestions to the Chamber of Commerce, who will <br />be making a recommendation to Council shortly relative to this ordinance. <br /> <br /> Mr. Frank Belecky, Vintage Hills, stated he felt that Councilmembers Brandes, <br />Mohr, and Wood had gone beyond their duties as Councilmembers relative to the Quail <br />Creek election, and had falsely advertised the project as affordable housing when in <br />fact it is not affordable housing; and in trying to push a poor project in Pleasanton. <br />He cited the donations of the developer as being excessive in promoting his project <br />for the ballot election, which he felt was against a group of volunteers trying to <br />keep a poor project out of their neighborhood; not a question of affordable housing, <br />He stated he resented the three Councilmembers who joined in active political cam- <br />paigning. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Appeal of a minor modification of case PUD-81-32 for a 61 unit townhouse development <br />on the north side of Vineyard Avenue opposite Amador Court having to do with re- <br />orientation of units, increase in size of units and minor architectural changes <br />(Contd. Open from 4-12-83') <br /> Mr. Harris presented his report (SR 83:132) dated March 30, 1983, regarding this <br />matter. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes stated he had requested this item be brought before Council <br />because it was not clear as to what the minor modifications consisted of as presented <br />in the letter from the Director of Planning and Community Development. He stated that <br />after reading the report he concurs with the modifications as proposed. <br /> <br /> Mayor Butler declared the public hearing open on this item. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mike Harris, applicant, stated the request for the modifications was made <br />because he felt these proposed changes would enhance the project and improve the <br />architectural design. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wood asked if the modifications would increase traffic flow on <br />Vineyard Avenue. Mr. Harris advised that it would not. <br /> <br /> Mr. James Griffen, 3036 Chardonnay Drive, stated that the improvements to the <br />project are an asset to the City of Pleasanton and deserve consideration. <br /> <br /> No one in the audience spoke in opposition to this matter. <br /> <br /> There being no further testimony, Mayor Butler declared the public hearing <br />closed. <br /> <br /> 4. 4/26/83 <br /> <br /> <br />
