Councilmember Butler stated that he has received two letters of application to be <br /> .... considered for appointment to fill the vacancies on the Environmental Monitoring Com- <br /> mittee. He advised that he has also received numerous telephone calls inquiring about <br /> this matter. He suggested that official notice of the two vacancies be advertised, <br /> allowing anyone in the community who is interested in serving on this committee to <br /> respond. After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by <br /> Councilmember Mohr, to officially open the two vacancies on the Environmental Moni- <br /> toring Committee to anyone in the community who is interested in serving in this <br /> capacity, and instructing staff to advertise for these vacancies immediately. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mohr, Wood, and Vice Mayor Brandes <br /> NOES: None <br />~ ABSENT: Mayor Mercer <br /> <br /> Councilmember Butler invited Council to the Annual Friends of Music dance on <br /> December 22, 1984. <br /> <br /> CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilmember Wood distributed copies of correspondence from the Alameda County <br /> Planning Department, Sand and Gravel Committee. He reviewed the report and stated <br /> that issues of concern should be answered in the final Environmental Impact Report. <br /> He requested the Director of Planning attend the next two or three meetings of the <br /> Sand and Gravel Committee as they will be discussing items related to Las Positas <br /> Boulevard and E1 Charro Road. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wood advised that Dublin City Council would like to have representa- <br /> tion on the Pleasanton Housing Authority Board, and have requested that as vacancies <br /> come up on that Board that they be filled by Dublin representatives. He stated that <br /> Dublin would ultimately like to take over the Arroyo Vista housing project in its <br /> entirety. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wood reported on the Solid Waste Seminar relative to solving the <br /> waste disposal problems in the area. <br /> <br /> MEETING OPEN TO TEE PUBLIC <br /> Ms. Jessie M. Campbell, 40672 Robin Street, Fremont, commended the City for the <br /> fine general planning of Pleasanton. She expressed appreciation to Vice Mayor Brandes <br /> and Councilmember Wood for their assistance in the recent campaign of her husband, Ed <br /> Campbell, who was elected to the Board of Supervisors. She requested a meeting of the <br /> Mayors in the Valley to meet with Mr. Campbell to discuss Valley needs and concerns. <br /> Vice Mayor Brandes stated he would advise Mayor Mercer of this request. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lee Parodi, 2788 Willowten Way, speaking on behalf of the Friends for Daniel <br /> Eugene Weaver Fund, advised Council that a fund is being established to assist in <br /> defraying medical expenses for Danny Weaver, a luekemia victim. He stated there will <br /> be various fund raisers and blood bank donation dates to allow the community to respond <br /> to this need. He requested Council to endorse and support this worthy cause. He ad- <br /> vised that donations can be turned in at the Bank of Pleasanton, 555 Peters Street, c/o <br /> Sarah Locke, and that the dates for the blood bank donation are December 22nd and 24th. <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember <br /> Mohr, that Resolution No. 84-597, endorsing and supporting fund raising events and <br /> blood bank donations for Friends of Daniel Eugene Weaver Fund, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mohr, Wood, and Vice Mayor Brandes <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: Mayor Mercer <br /> <br /> 3. 11/27/84 <br /> <br /> <br />
