and stating the sign/advertising display ordinance is fair and proper and should be <br />enforced as written. <br /> <br /> There being no further testimony, Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing closed <br />on this item. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Wood, and seconded by Council- <br />member Mohr, that Resolution No. 84-325, approving the appeal of Stanley Cherry of <br />a decision of the Design Review Board and allowing an outdoor display of tires not <br />to exceed 45 sq. ft. in area in front of the Big "0" Tire Store located at 3688 Wash- <br />ington Street, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Adoption of the 1984-85 Operating Budget and Capital Improvement Program <br /> Mr. Walker presented his report (SR 84:346) dated June 20, 1984, regarding this <br />matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open on this item. <br /> <br /> Mr. Andrew Shaper, 386 Division Street, stated that his remarks made under Meet- <br />ing Open to the Public would be the same for this item. He reiterated his concern <br />for Council consideration of a downtown park on Peters Avenue and improvements to <br />downtown streets. <br /> <br /> Council consideration ensued regarding possible purchase of the park land on <br />Peters Avenue. <br /> <br /> There being no further testimony, Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing closed <br />on this item. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Butler, that <br />the park site on Peters Avenue be put into the three year Capital Improvement Program <br />but not be made a part of the 1984-85 Capital Improvement Program. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes and Butler <br />NOES: Councilmembers Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> After further discussions it was moved by Councilmember Mohr, and seconded by <br />Councilmember Wood, directing staff to proceed with negotiations for the purchase of <br />the park site on Peters Avenue as soon as possible and report back to Council for <br />further consideration of this item. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Mayor Mercer, to eliminate <br />$3,700 from the budget for membership to ABAG. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: CouncilmemberBrandes and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: Councilmembers Butler, Mohr, and Wood <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> 9. 6/26/84 <br /> <br /> <br />
