Mr. Otis Bradshaw, 7208 Tulipwood Circle, stated that truck traffic in a residen- <br />tial area is hazardous. He urged Council to oppose continuance of the quarry. Council <br />advised him there are in opposition to this matter. <br /> <br /> Mr. Frank Belecky, 892 Madeira, stated that a portion of Vineyard Avenue has been <br />repaired, but that there is need for additional paving between Mavis Drive and Bernal <br />Avenue. Mr. Warnick advised that this portion of the street is in Alameda County but <br />that he will talk to them in an attempt to work out a joint project in order to get the <br />street repaired. <br /> <br /> Mr. Belecky stated that there are grading problems in the Vintage Hills park. Mr. <br />Warnick advised this matter will be taken care of as soon as the ground is dry enough. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />~Z-~72, .~pplication of the City of Pleasanton to rezone an apprpXimately six acre area <br />composed of all Droperties located on the north and south sides of St. Mary Street and <br />the north side of Division Street between Peters Avenue and the Western Pacific Railroad <br />.right-of-way from the R-1-6500 (Single-family Residential) District to the RM-1500 <br />(Multiple-family Residential) District or to any other zonin~ district consistent with <br />the General Plan <br /> <br />Consider Adoption of Negative Declaration <br /> (Contd. Open from 2-26-85) <br /> Mr. Harris presented his report (SR 85:95) dated February 26, 1985, regarding this <br />matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the continued public hearing open on the application and the <br />negative declaration. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Alice Mohr, 431 St. Marys Street, stated she is opposed to this application <br />because of density, which she felt was too dense. She stated the charm of this area is <br />its mixture of housing that presently exists. She firmly felt that to allow the higher <br />density would encourage people with older homes to put in the maximum number of units <br />possible. She urged Council to uphold the charm of the downtown area. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer presented a letter from the Residential Review Committee requesting <br />that this area be included in their study, for review and recommendation. <br /> <br /> There being no further testimony, Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing closed <br />on the application and the negative declaration. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Council- <br />member Wood, that Resolution No. 85-121, denying RZ-85-2, application of the City of <br />Pleasanton to rezone an approximately six acre area composed of all properties located <br />on the north and south sides of St. Mary Street and the north side of Division Street <br />between Peters Avenue and the Western Pacific Railroad right-of-way from the R-1-6500 <br />(Single-family Residential) District to the RM-1500 (Multiple-family Residential) Dis- <br />trict, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Because of the above action, no action was required or taken relative to the <br />negative declaration. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr, that <br />this six acre area be referred to the Residential Review Committee for review and <br />recommendation. <br /> 4. 3/12/85 <br /> <br /> <br />
