Ms. Getty stated she strongly supports the tax assess- <br />ment district. <br /> <br /> Ms. Peggy Despotakis, 201 Main Street, advised she has recently been elected to <br />the Downtown Association Board. She stated she agrees with the merchants who are <br />opposed to the assessment district tax levy; she hopes the problems can be worked <br />out relative to wrong classifications and wrong fees, to make it a fair and workable <br />tax assessment district for the improvement of downtown Pleasanton. She stated a <br />Director is needed to do the leg work, and an elected Board it necessary to consider <br />and make decisions regarding this matter. She advised that all business people are <br />encouraged to participate. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated the City Council seems to be caught in the middle of a dispute <br />between the Downtown Association Board and the downtown business people. He suggested <br />a poll be taken by the City to determine if a tax assessment district is desired by a <br />majority of the merchants. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Mohr, and seconded by Council- <br />member Butler, instructing staff to proceed with collection of the delinquent Pleasan- <br />ton Downtown Improvement District assessments, and that penalties be waived on all <br />delinquent fees paid prior to April 15, 1985. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mohr, and seconded by Councilmember Wood, that the <br />City conduct a poll regarding the downtown assessment district; with three people from <br />the Doomtown Association Board and three people representing the downtown merchants in <br />opposition to the assessment district to meet with City staff regarding the questions <br />to be asked on the poll; and with the individual answers to be kept confidential, but <br />the total results to be reviewed by Council. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Review of Four-Way Sto~. at Muirwood at West Las Positas <br /> This item was considered under Agenda Amendments on the agenda. <br /> <br />Report on Request for Installing Handicap Ramps on Dorman Road <br /> Mr. Warnick presented his report (SR 85:114) dated March 12, 1985, regarding this <br />matter. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Wood, that <br />Resolution No. 85-132, directing staff to prepare formal plans and specifications for <br />the installation of handicap ramps on Dorman Road, and appropriating $8,100.00 for <br />the project, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Report on Traffic Signal Control and Monitoring System <br />Mr. Warnick presented his report (SR 85:116) dated March 12, 1985, regarding this <br />matter. <br /> <br /> 14. 3/12/85 <br /> <br /> <br />
