Mr. George Garibaldi, 3240 Vervais Avenue, stated he has been at this location
since 1949. In 1967 he applied for a permit to build a swimming pool but was turned
down because he was told the Det Va!le Parkway would be going through his property.
Nothing has been done to date, traffic on his street is unbearable because of busi-
nesses in the area, and he is ready to move. He feels the Del Valle Parkway should
be constructed as scon as possible to alleviate traffic problems.

Mr. Martin Inderbitzen, 62 W. Neal Street, Chairman of the Downtown Committee,
stated that one of the issues this committee intends to continue to study is the
extension of the Del Valle Parkway. He stated there is going to be increased traffic
problems. He stated it is time a decision is made, and he encouraged that considera-
tion be made regardin~ a commitment for the extension, how wide the street will be,
and to put it in the fiscal budget to be done in the near future.

Mr. George Spi!iotopoulos, 830 Main Street, stated he agrees with and supports
staff recommendations. He stated he has no preference between the 66 ft. right-of-
way or the 84 ft. right-of-way, as long as the center line stays the same. He stated
he would like to preserve the heritage of the residential section. He advised he has
agreed to the dedication of a 66 ft. or an 84 ft. right-of-way, and would urge Council
to deal with this expansion through a study.

After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Council-
member Wood, that the staff be directed to immediately commence a study of the pro-
posed Det Va!le Parkway between Main Street and Bernal Avenue to include the follow-
ing: (!) traffic studies to determine the need for the proposed road and the effects
on other roadways if it is not constructed; (2) alternative alignments with compara-
tive data on costs, relocation effects, and other impacts; (3) recommendations as to
any needed changes in the adopted plan-line and/or General Plan Circulation Element;
(4) recommend construction schedule with phasing program if needed; and (5) an environ-
mental assessment of the project with an Environmental Impact Report, if required.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mer~er
NOES: None
ABSENT: None

REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER
Update of City o~ Pleasanton Sewerage Code
Mrs. Wagner presented her report (SR 85:0?) dated January?, 1985, regarding this
matter.

It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr, that
Ordinance No. 1175, to be read by title only and waiving further reading thereof,
amending Chapters 8 ~sewage) and 9 (water) of Title II of the Ordinance Code of the
City of Pleasanton, updating the City of Pleasanton sewerage code, be introduced.
Tt~e roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer
NOES: None
ABSENT: None

Consideration of Council Commensation
Mr. Walker presented his report (SR 85:17) dated December 27, 1984, regarding~
this matter.

Councilmember Wood suggested this be placed on the next ballot 'for a Vote of the
people on ~his issue.

After discussion, it was moved'by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Council-
member Butler, ttiat Ordinance No. 1176, to be read by title only and waiving further
reading thereof, setting Citv Councilmembers salaries at $400.00 per month, tobecOme
effective following the 1986 election, be introduced.
12. 1/7/85
