Councilmember Butler explained that his motion leaves Hopyard Road as it is now. Mr. Dale Zalenski, 4650 Del Valle Parkway, stated he felt there is no need to widen Hopyard Road. Mr. James Zukelly stated he did not feel the City has a com- plete total plan and that better planning is needed; he does not want to see Pleasanton develop as Modesto has with its poor planning. -- Mr. Earl Augusta asked to be notified when the easterly side of Main Street is considered. Mayor Mercer advised this issue will be considered on November 5th, and instructed staff to send Mr. Augusta the appropriate notice and report. Mayor Mercer commended the audience for their businesslike approach to the issue and thanked them for their attendance and participation in this matter. MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC Mrs. Dorothy Bevard, 7974 Hillsboro Court, stated that the Alameda Planning Commission will again be considering the quarry permit for the Moller property on Foothill Road. She asked Coun- cil and the audience to support her in opposing this issue. Mayor Mercer and Councilmember Brandes stated they would attend the meeting to restate the City's position in opposition to the Moller quarry. Mrs. Bevard stated that this property is also used as a gun range, which creates a very dangerous situation. Mayor Mercer instructed the Police Chief to investigate this matter. Mr. George Spiliotopoulos, representing over 150 citizens in the Valley who recently participated in a golf tournament, stated _ this is an annual affair to raise funds for Pleasanton senior citizens projects. He presented a check in the amount of $4,000.00 to be used at the discretion of staff for a worthwhile senior citizen project. Mayor Mercer and Councilmembers ex- pressed appreciation to Mr. Spiliotopoulos for his outstanding efforts in this worthwhile cause. Mayor Mercer stated that the golf tournament (GASIT) has been an on-going affair for some time now and should be supported in the future. Mrs. Kaye Wellman, 4565 Shearwater, member of the Planning Commission, asked that a Post Office Committee be formed to re- view the information generated thusfar regarding problems associ- ated with the U. S. Postal Service in Pleasanton. She suggested that the committee consist of one City Councilmember, one Plan- ning Commissioner, a postal service representative, a Chamber of - 10 - 10-15-85
