29-7- <br /> <br /> Mr. Walker presented the report of the Director of Parks and Community <br /> Services (SR 85:488) dated October 1, 1985, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Mr. Robert Junipero, Commander of the VFW, requested that the park on <br />Peters Avenue and Division Street be named "Veterans Park", in honor of all <br />veterans from Pleasanton. He stated the VFW group would like to place a <br />plaque in the park listing the names of the veterans, and also to put up a <br />flag. <br /> <br /> Ms. Jacquie Oliverius, Chairperson of the Park and Recreation Commission, <br />stated this Commission has considered many names, and would like Council to <br />make a decision tonight on this matter. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mohr, and seconded by Councilmember Butler, <br />that Resolution No. 85-474, naming the .5+ acre park on the southwest corner <br />of Peters Avenue and Division Street as "Veterans Plaza", be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Wood <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes stated he felt the Hopyard-Valley Park (T)/Hansen <br />Park should be permanently named Hansen Community Park, in honor of the Hansen <br />family. <br /> ~fter discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by <br />CounCilmember Mohr, that Resolution No. 85-475, naming the 15 acre park on the <br />northwest corner of Hopyard Road and Valley Avenue as "Pleasanton Tennis and <br />Community Park", be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mohr, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: Councilmember Brandes <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Wood <br /> <br />Recommendation for Disposal of Surplus Property Northwest Corner of Peters <br />Avenue and Division Street. <br /> Mr. Okamura presented his report (SR 85:466) dated October 1, 1985, <br />regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by <br />Councilmember Butler, that Resolution No. 85-476, declaring the parcel of land <br />(approximately 1753 sq. ft.) located on the west side of Peters Avenue just <br />north of Division Street as surplus; the City determines that the market value <br />for the property is $16,443.14; City shall notify all agencies required by law <br />to be given first opportunity to purchase surplus property; City finds that <br />the most appropriate development pattern for the area is for use as plottage <br />to the adjacent parcel to the west (Spiliotopoulos), provided that the owner <br />of the adjacent parcel is willing to pay the fair market value; and if no <br />agency wishes to purchase the property, the City Manager is authorized to <br />negotiate with the adjacent property owner for purchase of the property, be <br />adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Wood <br /> <br /> 11 - 10-1-85 <br /> <br /> <br />
