CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS
There were no City Council Committee Reports presented at this
meeting.
EETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Bill Christensen, 7979 Hillsborough Court, stated that he feels the
~median on Springdale which as was a condition of the 54 unit condominium
'~roject approved in August, may cause more problems than not. He states
~hat there is not a problem at this point, but that it would be creating
ne in the future. He stated that the median would create more traffic
hrough residential neighborhoods in addition to the inconvenience of
having to go further to reach certain addresses. He stated that he would
like to have other alternatives studied before keeping the median.

Bob Okamura stated that there were several alternatives studied for
this area. He stated that they plan to widen Stoneridge by two additional
lanes and the reason they are working on this intersection now is due to
the fact that they were already working on this area due to the assessment
district. Mr. Okamura stated that if the intersection is blocked due to
traffic, that emergency vehicles would most likely drive on the opposite
side of the street which is the current practice.

Mayor Mercer stated that Mr. Christensen has a very valid point and
asked that staff take this item back for discussion.

Mr. Harry McGrath, 5153 Springdale, thanked Council for the prompt
attention to his complaint regarding the weeds in the vacant lot in Falcon
Ridge Development.

Mr. Craig Filipowicz, 405 Ewing Drive, stated that he represents a
group of neighbors and presented Council a petition requesting a City
Ordinance to ban future and present skateboard ramps.

Councilmember Brandes noted that in his review of the minutes, that
the Board of.Adjustment had attached certain conditions to the operation of
the skateboard ramp. He asked if this was the original petition or was it
in addition to the conditions attached by the Board of Adjustment.

Mr. Filipowicz stated that it was the original petition. He also
stated that there was no compromise on an 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., 6 days per
week, operating condition.

Mayor Mercer stated that this was currently in the hands of the
District Attorney.

- Mr. Walker stated that the first action came from the Board of
Adjustment issuing a variance which established the conditions previously
mentioned. Mr. Walker noted that this variance was not appealed and that
the appeal period has expired. He stated that the second action came when
Officer Murphy listened to the noise from the skateboard ramp and declared
it a nuisance. The noise had been tested with a sound meter and did not
violate the sound ordinance, although is was a nuisance which was cited by
Officer Murphy.

9-3 -85 5
