Councilmember Mohr made a motion directing staff to send a letter to
Assemblyman Katz supporting his legislation requiring any vehicle carrying
~ravel, sand or similar material to be covered. The motion was seconded by
.ouncilmanWood.
he roll call vote as as~ follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wood and Mayor Mercer
'~OES: None
~BSENT: None

Mayor Mercer asked that staff check with the railroad to see what can
be done to improve the crossing at Santa Rita Rd. Bob Okamura stated that
a year ago it was agreed that if the railroad did the track work that the
City would fix the overlay. Mr. Okamura stated that he would be sure to
check if anything should be done in order to improve the crossing.

Mayor Mercer stated that he was asked by the Library Committee to
appoint a councilmember as a liaison, which he then appointed Councilmember
~randes.

Mayor Mercer asked for direction from Council on Residential Long Term
Agreements.

Councilmember Brandes stated that he has been in favor of long term
agreements but questions the timing at this point. He stated that the
first meeting would be more appropriate the first meeting in October.

Councilmember Mohr stated that back in June the Council had stated
that they would like to find a process other than the committee process.

Peter MacDonald stated that some alternatives have been brought back
to Council but no alternative has been decided upon.

Councilmember Butler stated that at this point the important factor is
the recommendation of the General Plan Review Committee.

Mayor Mercer stated, in regards to Senior Housing, that Mr. Herlihy
requested that Debbie Snyder be appointed to the Design Review Committee.

Mr. Walker stated that Mr. Figi had recommended that two senior
citizens be appointed to this committee. Councilmember Mohr stated that
she would like to see another senior citizen on the committee, rather than
~omeone who is not a senior citizen. Councilmember Wood stated that he had
~o problem with following this recommendation. Mr. Walker stated that
2here had not been any advertisement on the vacant committee position.

Mayor Mercer instructed staff to advertise for a senior citizen to
fill the vacant committee position.

Mr. Martin Inderbitzen, 62 West Neal Street, stated that he is on the
Design Review Committee which recommended Bill Herlihy due to his
familiarity with the project. He stated that they had recommended that two
senior citizens be appointed to the committee since neither himself nor Art
Dunkley are senior citizens which the project is being built for. He also
stated that the recommendation could be changed if Council wishes.

9-3 -85 4
