He stated he feels the ssential item they wanted to change was to add the right of appeal. He tated that he would like to have the meeting start at 7:30, the first Tuesday of each month. Mr. Jim Walker stated that this will be an organizational meeting that can change the time. The date for the meeting is September 17, 1985. Councilmember Mohr suggested starting at 7:00 p.m. and continuing any -items not decided upon at 8:00 (when the Council meeting begins). This was agreed upon by all Councilmembers. She asked if the starting time could be varied according to items on the agenda. Mayor Mercer stated that he would like a standard and meeting place. Councilmember Wood stated that he would like the proceeds from the sale of vacant property in Arroyo Vista to go towards updating Kottinger Park. Pete MacDonald stated that state law requires that any proceeds must be dedicated to subsidized housing. Councilmember Mohr directed staff to advertise to fill the 2 vacant positions. Mayor Mercer stated that he would write a letter to Mike Parsons to review decisions made in the last 30 days at the meeting of September 17th at 7:00 p.m. Selection of Permanent Park Names for the Following Two Parks; 5+ Acre Park, Corner of Peters Avenue and Division Street; and 3.95 Acre Park, North of Tawny Drive East of Bernal Avenue Councilmember Wood suggested the name of Amaral Park which was the family that lived on the property. They had three sons of which all three were in the military service. John Amaral was the Pleasanton Fire Chief for many years and the instigator of the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce. Councilmember Wood also suggested Veteran Park with a plaque displayed. he stated that the previous Veteran's Park was converted to a parking lot. Dolores Bengtson stated that these names had not been proposed during the name selection process. Councilmember Butler asked that the Parks and Recreation Commission reconsider the names along with these two additions. Councilmember Mohr suggested the word "plaza" be used instead of park since it will be located in the downtown area and not in a grassy area as most parks. 9-3 -85 19
