REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br /> Actions Taken by the Board of Adjustment, Design Review Board and Planning <br /> Commission at their Meeting of August 28, 1985 <br /> This item was for information only. <br /> <br /> ~.EPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br /> ~Roles and Responsibili~ of Housing Authority Commission and Staff <br />'D Councilmember Butler stated that it makes sense to give the authority <br /> ~to the Commission to carry on as they have been. He stated he feels the <br /> ssential item they wanted to change was to add the right of appeal. He <br /> tated that he would like to have the meeting start at 7:30, the first <br /> Tuesday of each month. <br /> <br /> Mr. Jim Walker stated that this will be an organizational meeting that <br /> can change the time. The date for the meeting is September 17, 1985. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mohr suggested starting at 7:00 p.m. and continuing any <br /> -items not decided upon at 8:00 (when the Council meeting begins). This was <br /> agreed upon by all Councilmembers. She asked if the starting time could be <br /> varied according to items on the agenda. Mayor Mercer stated that he would <br /> like a standard and meeting place. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wood stated that he would like the proceeds from the <br /> sale of vacant property in Arroyo Vista to go towards updating Kottinger <br /> Park. <br /> <br /> Pete MacDonald stated that state law requires that any proceeds must <br /> be dedicated to subsidized housing. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mohr directed staff to advertise to fill the 2 vacant <br /> positions. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated that he would write a letter to Mike Parsons to <br /> review decisions made in the last 30 days at the meeting of September 17th <br /> at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br /> Selection of Permanent Park Names for the Following Two Parks; 5+ Acre <br /> Park, Corner of Peters Avenue and Division Street; and 3.95 Acre Park, <br /> North of Tawny Drive East of Bernal Avenue <br /> Councilmember Wood suggested the name of Amaral Park which was the <br /> family that lived on the property. They had three sons of which all three <br /> were in the military service. John Amaral was the Pleasanton Fire Chief <br /> for many years and the instigator of the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce. <br /> Councilmember Wood also suggested Veteran Park with a plaque displayed. he <br /> stated that the previous Veteran's Park was converted to a parking lot. <br /> <br /> Dolores Bengtson stated that these names had not been proposed during <br /> the name selection process. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Butler asked that the Parks and Recreation Commission <br /> reconsider the names along with these two additions. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mohr suggested the word "plaza" be used instead of park <br /> since it will be located in the downtown area and not in a grassy area as <br /> most parks. <br /> <br /> 9-3 -85 19 <br /> <br /> <br />
