Proclaim April 14-19, 1986, as Earthquake Preparedness Week. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mercer, Wood, and Vice Mayor Mohr <br /> NOES: Councilmembers Mercer and Wood on item 4h <br /> ABSENT: Mayor Brandes <br /> <br /> MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS <br /> Councilmember Mercer requested the Staff Traffic Committee to investigate <br /> installing a U-turn at the intersection of Owens and Hopyard, in order to <br /> alleviate traffic congestion in this area. <br /> <br /> CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> There were no City Council Committee Reports presented at this meeting. <br /> <br /> MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> Mr. James Zukelly expressed concern regarding the lack of affordable hous- <br /> ing in Pleasanton. He stated that many people who work here cannot afford to <br /> live in this City because of the high cost of housing. He stated this is un- <br /> american and the City will eventually face legal actions because of denying <br /> suitable housing for the regular working class people. Vice Mayor Mohr ex- <br /> plained that the Residential Review Committee is reviewing this matter at the <br /> present time, and that it is also a concern of hers. She advised that in high <br /> density projects the City requires 25% of the project be reserved for low in- <br /> come housing, and that senior citizen housing is underway. <br /> <br /> Mr. Vic Lund, 234 Main Street, stated that he had been contacted by PG&E <br /> on March 24th regarding a proposal for the construction of high aerial transi- <br /> tion lines and towers across the entire easterly skyline, with lines going <br /> between the Kotttinger Ranch and the Lund Ranch. He advised that 12 towers <br /> will be visible from the Valley floor. He stated that PG&E will have an in- <br /> formational meeting on April 16th at Valley View School to present their <br /> <br /> 4 - 4-1-86 <br /> <br /> <br />
