It was moved by
Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Butler, that a letter
signed by the Mayor be transmitted to the Alameda County Taxpayers Association
setting forth reasons why Council feels that the low income senior citizen
housing project is a high priority and should receive a YES vote.
The roll call vote was as follows:
CY) AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mercer, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Brandes
O') NOES: None
ABSENT: None

Councilmember Mercer requested staff to look into the possibility of
making Santa Rita Road from the Post Offce to the Stanley Boulevard intersec-
tion a two lane street going south, to relieve traffic congestion in that
area. He stated that he and Councilmem-
ber Mohr had met with every applicant for long term agreements. He advised
the Subcommittee is limited in the present situation and that final approvals
cannot be given until amendment of the General Plan is finalized. Based upon
advice of the City Attorney and Planning Department the Subcommittee tried to
go ahead with agreements that could be approved contingent upon possible
General Plan changes later this year. Councilmember Butler stated the Subcom-
mittee tried to work out a way that apartment units would have increased
standing to receive a greater number of units.
