No action was required or taken by Council on the <br />item. <br /> <br />Status of U. S. Ecology Permit Application <br /> Mr. MacDonald presented his report (IR 86:105) dated December 11, 1986, <br />regarding this matter. Councilmember Brandes asked if the Fire Department is <br />satisfied with the U. S. Ecology, Inc. compliance to the hazardous materials <br />ordinance. Mr. Mueller, Fire Department Chemical Specialist, stated he has <br />inspected the site several times and is convinced of the safety of the facili- <br />ty and its usage; in his opinion it looked clean and that it will not be a <br />hazard to the City. No action was required or taken by Council on the item. <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS <br /> Mayor Mercer stated there is one vacancy on the Planning Commission due to <br />the resignation of Kaye Wellman, and one vacancy on the Human Services Commis- <br />sion due to the resignation of Michael Hunt. He suggested advertising for <br />these two vacancies, with the closing date for receiving resumes to be January <br />9, 1987. Council concurred. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes stated Council has received a letter from the Oak- <br />hill Homeowners Association regarding the center area of West Las Positas and <br />Foothill Road; he asked if that will be considered in the next budget. Mr. <br />Walker stated it was in the previous budget but was eliminated because of lack <br />of funds. Councilmember Brandes asked if there are any specific plans for the <br />middle area. Mr. Walker advised he would look into this matter. <br /> <br /> CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> There were no City Council Committee Reports presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> Mr. John Innes, Director of the Annual Foothill High School Band Review, <br /> stated the Band Review has just completed its twelfth years of competition. <br /> He thanked the Council and City of Pleasanton for their cooperation and sup- <br /> port of this event. He advised the Boosters Club has raised over $150,000.00 <br /> in connection with this event that has gone to further the music program in <br /> the City.
