Zoning for the <br />property is PUD (Planned Unit Development)-Industrial, Commercial and Offices <br />District <br />(Contd. from 8-5-86) <br /> Mr. Swift presented his report (SR 86:519) dated December 2, 1986, regard- <br />ing this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open on this item. <br /> <br /> Mr. Toby Taylor, 4256 Hacienda Drive, representing the Martin Company, <br />stated that with regard to condition No. 2 of the staff report, he is con- <br />cerned about the size, location and material to be used in attaching signs to <br />the sides of the building. He presented background information on the proj- <br />ect, stating there are five buildings some of which front on one street and <br />have addresses on a different street. He stated this makes it difficult for <br />customers to identify the tenants in each building and thus causes confusion. <br />He asked that the proposed signs be 12"; he added these would not be illumi- <br />nated signs. He stated the lettering would match the existing signs that are <br />on one side of the building. He stated that other buildings in the area have <br />such signing, and he asked for approval of his sign program. <br /> <br /> No one in the audience spoke in opposition to this item. <br /> <br /> There being no further testimony, Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing <br />closed. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Butler stated that staff has made a comprehensive study of <br />this issue and he is satisfied with their reasoning. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mohr stated she has driven in the area of this project and <br />if familiar with the subject property; she feels that the signing is adequate. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated Council should do everything possible to assist new <br />businesses in Pleasanton, and he supports the sign program as presented by the <br />Martin Company. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember But- <br />ler, that Resolution No. 86-564, denying AP-86-06, appeal by the Martin Compa- <br />ny of a decision of the Design Review Board approving a comprehensive sign <br /> <br /> - 8 12-2-86 <br /> <br /> <br />
