173 <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he asked staff for a report relative to options avail- <br />able to the homeowners who could not get their boats/campers, etc., in the <br />back yard because of its size or shape. Mr. Swift advised his staff looked at <br />22 yards and presented three options for possible screening of the vehicles. <br />He stated that approximately 40% could not be brought into compliance with the <br />ordinance. <br /> <br /> Council discussion ensued regarding possible ways to allow recreational <br />vehicle owners to keep their units on their property and still maintain the <br />intent of the ordinance. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Bran- <br />des, to maintain the ordinance as it currently exists but initiate an amend- <br />ment to the setback requirements to allow boats/campers, etc., to be stored in <br />the sideyard closer than 23 feet from the front yard property line if no <br />closer to the street than any portion of the house or garage. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Wilson, and seconded by Councilmember Bran- <br />des, to initiate an amendment to the ordinance to include self-contained motor <br />homes in the restrictions of the ordinance. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes and Wilson <br />NOES: Councilmembers Butler, Mohr, and Mayor Mercer <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mayor Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Butler, di- <br />recting staff to process Variances for owners of boats/camper, etc. to allow <br />the parking of these vehicles on their property, if appropriate findings can <br />be made and asking the Board of Adjustment to delegate review of these <br />Variance to the Zoning Administrator. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAINED:Councilmember Wilson <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mohr stated that children are riding skateboards in the cen- <br />ter lane of the road near Flair Market; she requested staff to alert the <br />Police Department to look into this dangerous situation. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he would recommend appointing Sharrell Michelotti and <br />Marcelline Mahern, Planning Commissioners, to the Fertile Crescent Committee <br />chaired by Supervisor Campbell, and that this matter came to his attention <br />after the agenda had closd. It was moved by Councilmember Mohr, and seconded <br />by Councilmember Wilson, that need to consider this item arose after printing <br />of the agenda and that Council should take action at this time. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> - 5 6-2-87 <br /> <br /> <br />
