447 Report on the Intersection of Golden Road and Harvest Road Mr. Elliott presented his report ('SR 87:541) dated December 15, 1987, regarding this matter. Mr. David Stites, 1296 Harvest Road, stated he has read the staff report and felt that many of the points he raised were observed by the Traffic Com- mittee; they basically support the need to upgrade traffic control at this intersection. He added that staff offers no reason against upgrading. He advised that other interested citizens have initiated a petition in the area south of Del Valle Parkway and Golden and Harvest relative to crosswalks and crossing guards. Mr. Stites felt there was justification to upgrade traffic control at the intersection of Golden and Harvest Roads. Mr. Scott Miner, 1507 Ramblewood Way, stated that rather than having a four-way stop at this intersection maybe a line in the roadway and appropriate signage citing the curve ahead as well as increased police patrol would take care of the problem. After discuss'o ~j t was moved by Councilmember Wilson, and seconded by Councilmember ~, ~t Resolution No. 87-558, establishing a four-way stop sign at the intersection of Golden Road and Harvest Road, be adopted. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer NOES: None ABSENT: None Councilmember Wilson stated he would like a three-way stop sign at Foot- hill Road and Bernal Avenue. Staff advised that this area is in the County so the City cannot take any action until the property is annexed, which is expec- ted shortly. Mr. Elliott stated he would ask the County to consider install- ing a three-way stop in this intersection. Councilmember Brandes asked staff to also contact the Board of Supervisors regarding the left turn lanes on Bernal Avenue onto Valley; to keep the lanes as they are during the Fair for all year. CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS There were no City Council Committee Reports presented at this meeting. MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC Mr. Leo Amsell, 234 Main Street, stated there has been a great incon- venience for the merchants at the south end of Main Street with the intersec- tion construction and to wait another six months to see the outcome of the traffic situation was very inappropriate in his opinion. He asked Council to reconsider this matter. Council did not take any further action relative to the issue.
