It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr, <br /> that Resolution No. 87-508, confirming the appointment of Steven Krahnke as a <br /> Regular Member on the Park and Recreation Commission to fill the vacated seat <br /> of Lance Ruckteschler, said term to expire 2-15-89; and confirming the ap- <br /> pointment of Robert Silva as Alternate Member on the Park and Recreation Com- <br /> mission, replacing Steven Krahnke, said term to expire 2-15-91, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr, <br /> that Resolution No. 87-509, confirming the appointment of Gloria J. Bondurant <br /> as a Regular Member on the Pleasanton Housing Authority Board of Commis- <br /> sioners, to fill the seat vacated by Bruce Fiedler, said term to expire <br /> January 25, 1991, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />k~d There were no City Council Committee Reports presented at this meeting. <br />(~J MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br />~'J Ms. Elissa Glickman, Flemington Court, representing the Fairlands Parent/ <br />') Faculty Club, presented a letter from this group, requesting a solution to the <br />I'T'I problem of children crossing West Las Positas to get to Fairlands School. She <br />~ listed steps taken by the School and concerned parents, as well as the Police <br /> Department, to relieve the dangerous situation. She also presented a letter <br /> from John Bristow, Principal of Fairlands School, expressing his concern about <br /> the crosswalk for children in front of Fairlands School, and requesting a <br /> crossing guard at this location to eliminate this hazard to the children of <br /> the community. <br /> <br /> After discussion, Mayor Mercer instructed the Traffic Committee to meet in <br /> .... Special Session to discuss this matter, and that an item regarding the issue <br /> be scheduled on the agenda of December 1, 1987, for consideration by Council. <br /> <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> AP-87-19, Appeal by the City Council of a decision of the Design Review <br /> Board's approval of Z-87-403, Application of Connolly Development, Inc., for <br /> approval of a traffic circulation design of the recently approved approximate- <br /> ly 113,000 sq. ft. commercial complex located in the area bounded by Mission <br /> Drive to the north, Junipero Drive to the south, and Sunol Boulevard to the <br /> west. Zonin9 for the property is CN (Neighborhood Commercial) District <br /> Councilmember Wilson abstained from participation in this item because of <br /> Conflict of Interest. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mohr stated she appealed this item because of the concerns <br /> of residents regarding increased traffic on Junipero because of the traffic <br /> pattern created by the newly proposed shopping center; they do not feel the <br /> problem has been adequately addressed. She stated the homeowners held a meet- <br /> ing, and in the spirit of compromise, would be agreeable to a right turn out <br /> only at the intersection with signalization later when it is deemed necessary. <br /> That would divide the flow of traffic on Junipero. <br /> <br /> - 4 11-17-87 <br /> <br /> <br />
