for the Collection, Transport, and Disposal of Refuse and Garbage from the <br />City of Pleasanton <br /> This item was moved on the agenda and considered as item 9h. <br /> <br />item 12b <br />Purchase of Delucchi and Wayside Parks from Southern Pacific Railroad Company <br /> Mr. Walker presented his report (SR 88:328) dated July 5, 1988, regarding <br />this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he asked the City Manager to contact Southern Pacific <br />to see if it was interested in selling the property; the City's lease will <br />expire in four years. <br /> <br /> Mr. Walker stated there is urgency in this matter as Southern Pacific has <br />indicated that it would be interested in selling the two parcels to the City. <br /> <br /> After discussion, Council instructed staff to bring back a proposed pur- <br />chase agreement to acquire the DeLucchi and Wayside Parks from Southern <br />Pacific Railroad Company, for consideration at the July 19, 1988 meeting. <br /> <br />item 12c <br />Memorandum of Understanding with Firefighters <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember But- <br />ler, that Resolution No. 88-327, approving the Memorandum of Understanding <br />with Firefighters Local 1974, for the period July 1, 1988 through August 31, <br />1990, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />item 12d <br />City Manager Compensation <br /> Councilmember Butler stated that after reviewing the performance of the <br />City Manager for the past six years he felt an increase of 6% in compensation <br />with an opening for discussion of possible tax deferments if that becomes pos- <br />sible in the future to be reasonable. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Wil- <br />son, that Resolution No. 88-328, approving a compensation plan establishing <br />the salary and supplementary benefits for City Manager James R. Walker effec- <br />tive May 13, 1988, and amending the budget accordingly, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Appointment of Acting City Attorney <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr, <br />that Resolution No. 88-329, appointing Dennis Beougher as Acting City Attorney <br />until such time as a City Attorney is hired, and adjusting his salary accord- <br />ingly, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> 14 7-5-88 <br /> <br /> <br />
