O. Bond Election for the Santa Rita Jail <br /> Mayor Mercer presented his memorandum regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember But- <br />ler, that Resolution No. 88-234, supporting Alameda County's General Obliga- <br />tion Bond Election for the Santa Rita Jail, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Letter to Editor in Support of School Bond Issue <br /> Councilmember Mohr stated that Council has gone on record in support of <br />the School Bond issue on the June ballot but she felt that additional support <br />might be helpful. She suggested that Council jointly send a letter to the <br />Editor in support of the School Bond issue. After discussion, Councilmembers <br />decided to send letters individually rather than jointly. <br /> <br />Music Presentation by Alisal School <br /> Mayor Mercer stated that he recently attended a music program presented by <br />fourth graders at Alisal School about the City of Pleasanton. He advised that <br />the teacher would like to present this program at a Council meeting. He sug- <br />gested that the Council meeting of June 7th be held at Alisal School in order <br />that the fourth grade could present their program before the meeting started. <br />The consensus of the Council was not to move the Council meeting to another <br />location. Mayor Mercer stated he would see what other arrangements could be <br />worked out. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Mayor Mercer stated that representatives from the cities of Livermore, <br />Dublin, and Pleasanton, as well as the Sheriff's Department met with BART in <br />an effort to get bus service near Santa Rita jail for released prisoners. He <br />advised that there is a possibility of putting a temporary park and ride lot <br />on County property next to the jail facility, then a premanent lot on the <br />western portion of the property near the railroad right-of-way. He stated it <br />is planned that LAVTA will provide local service and that BART will stay on <br />the freeway and pick up released prisoners.
