133 <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by <br />Councilmember Wilson, that Resolution No. 88-439, authorizing the <br />City to join the Bay Cities Joint Powers Insurance Authority, <br />beginning October 1, 1988, for the purpose of receiving general <br />comprehensive liability insurance; appointing the City Manager to <br />serve on the Bay Cities Board of Directors with the Assistant City <br />Manager as his alternate; and authorizing the City Manager to <br />execute all documents related to joining the Bay Cities Joint <br />Power Insurance Authority, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor <br /> Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />item 12b <br />Proposed Economic Development Marketinq Program for City of <br />Pleasanton <br /> Mr. Walker presented his report (SR 88:411) dated September <br />6, 1988, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Ms. Bev Davis, representing the Chamber of Commerce, stated <br />this is a program to bring perspective buyers and the City <br />together to facilitate new business in Pleasanton. She stated the <br />Chamber feels the program needs a total of three years to monitor <br />its effects. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and <br />seconded by Councilmember Wilson, that Resolution No. 88-440, <br />approval of the concept of an economic development program as <br />outlined in Staff Report 88:411; and agreeing to participate in <br />the funding of the program and amend the 1988-89 Operating Budget <br />by $18,750.00, effective January 1, 1989, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Wilson, and Mayor <br /> Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br /> There were no reports of the City Attorney presented at this <br />meeting. <br /> <br />COMMUNICATIONS <br /> There were no communications presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL CALENDAR <br /> Mr. Walker presented the City Council Calendar for the <br />information of the Council. He stated that the League of <br />California Cities Conference is October 16-19, 1988, and the <br />second meeting in October is October 18th.
