Staff advised <br />it would investigate this matter. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> There were no City Council Committee Reports presented at <br />this meeting. <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> Mr. Jon Scudder, 836 Division Street, stated he addressed the <br />Council three weeks ago regarding traffic on Division Street. He <br />stated there is still a problem. He asked what is being done to <br />correct this situation. <br /> <br /> Mr. Van Gelder, Traffic Engineer, stated that studies were <br />made which reveal that there is a speeding problem. He stated <br />that an additional sign has been installed and he has asked for <br />additional equipment. <br /> <br /> Mr. Scudder felt that Division Street should be a residential <br />street with a 25 MPH speed limit. He also felt there should be <br />more police patrol as the situation creates a safety problem. <br /> <br /> Mr. Van Gelder stated that staff will continue to monitor <br />this matter and take whatever action deemed necessary to make the <br />street more safe. <br /> <br /> Mr. Joe Carlucci, 4150 Francisco, asked if Council has taken <br />a position on the proposed toxic and radioactive incinerator at <br />the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory. Mayor Mercer advised that <br />he serves on the Regional Water Control Board where he tried to <br />address this issue. He was told that the Environmental Protection <br />Agency has jurisdiction over the Lab clean up and that Region 9 <br />has total control; the City cannot do anything about it. <br /> <br /> - 14 - 3-7-89 <br /> <br /> <br />
