487 <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br />~, AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Tarver, and Mayor <br /> Mercer <br />~ NOES: Mayor Mercer on items 4m and 4n <br />~ ABSENT: None <br /> <br />[] SPECIAL AND INFORMATIONAL REPORTS <br /> item 5a <br /> Review of the Pleasanton Senior Center <br /> Ms. Bengtson presented her report (SR 89:65) dated February <br /> 7, 1989, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Mr. Wayne Gehrke, Architect, presented renderings of the <br /> proposed Senior Center showing the site plan, floor plan, and <br /> exterior of the building. <br /> <br /> Mr. William Wruck, 4133 Moller Drive, Vice Chairperson of <br /> the Human Services Commission, and as a resident, urged Council to <br /> appropriate the time and effort to move the City Corporation <br /> facility to the new location as soon as possible so this project <br /> can proceed. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Tarver stated he does not want this project to <br /> run short in terms of furniture and building equipment, and <br /> suggested looking into increasing the budget for these items. <br /> <br /> Mr. Walker advised that the Corporation Yard is expected to <br /> be relocated within 18-24 months, and that a financial consultant <br /> has been engaged (on the Consent Calendar this date) to look into <br /> ways to fund the school gymnasiums and the Senior Center. <br /> <br /> Ms. Babe Tebo, 785 Rose Avenue, stated the senior citizens <br /> have waited a long time for this Center and it seems like <br /> progress is very slow; others projects have been and are being <br /> built. She urged Council to proceed with the Senior Center as <br /> soon as possible. <br /> <br /> item 5b <br /> Actions Taken by the Design Review Board and Planninq Commission <br /> -- at their meetinq of 1-15-89 <br /> Mr. Swift presented his report (IR 89:14) dated February 2, <br /> 1989, regarding this matter. No action was required or taken by <br /> Council on the item. <br /> <br /> MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS <br /> item 6a <br /> Appointment to the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District <br /> Board <br /> Mayor Mercer presented his memorandum dated January 27, 1989, <br /> reappointing John Vissolini to another term on the Mosquito <br /> Abatement Board. <br /> <br /> - 3 - 2-7-89 <br /> <br /> <br />
