481 <br /> <br />Correspondence from Pleasanton Library Commission Reqardinq the <br />Proposed Pleasanton Library Celebration on 2-12-89 <br /> Mr. Bocian presented his report (IR 89:10) dated January 17, <br />1989, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by <br />Councilmember Butler, that Resolution No. 89-39, authorizing the <br />Pleasanton Library Advisory Commission to utilize $5,000.00 from <br />the Library Construction Contingency Fund for the Pleasanton <br />Library celebration scheduled to be held on February 12, 1989, be <br />adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Tarver, and Mayor <br /> Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />item llb (4h/12c) <br />Approval of the Aqreement for the Maintenance and Operation of the <br />Pleasanton Library with the Alameda County Library System to <br />operate the Pleasanton Library <br /> Mr. Bocian presented his report (SR 89:40) dated January 17, <br />1989, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Tarver stated he feels only one group should be <br />responsible for scheduling the library conference room, and since <br />the room is in the library building it would be his recommendation <br />that the library be in charge of scheduling the room, with the <br />City having preferential treatment. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Butler stated the recommendation that there be <br />joint Library/City scheduling has some merit, but in the interest <br />of agreement he can support the Library having full control of the <br />conference room. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated the City paid for the library building, <br />pays for the maintenance and operation, landscaping, etc., and it <br />seems to him the City should control the scheduled use of the <br />conference room. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by <br />Councilmember Tarver, that Resolution No. 89-40, approving the <br />agreement for the maintenance and operation of the Pleasanton <br />Library with the Alameda County Library System to operate the <br />Pleasanton Library; directing the Library staff to be in charge of <br />scheduling the conference room; and authorizing execution of the <br />agreement by the Mayor and City Clerk, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, and Tarver <br />NOES: Councilmember Mohr and Mayor Mercer <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />item 12a <br /> <br /> - 27 - 1-17-89 <br /> <br /> <br />
