469

After discussion, Council concurred with staff that a stop
work order should be issued on the Amador Valley Savings and Loan
development (Vintage Hills II) until the conditions of approval
can be reviewed by staff to determine if the conditions are being
complied with.

Mr. Don Adams, 4133 Stanley Boulevard, stated there is
restricted parking and a parking problem at the complex where he
resides; he requested Council to consider removing the bike lane
on the north side of Stanley Boulevard from First to Main Street,
in order to allow for on-street parking. Mayor Mercer referred
this matter to the Staff Traffic Committee for review and
recommendation. Mr. Adams asked when the Library Conference Room
would be available for public use for meetings. Mayor Mercer
suggested he call the Library for this information, and also
informed Mr. Adams he could call City Hall for available rooms for
meetings.

PUBLIC HEARINGS
item 9a
RZ-88-10, Application of the City of Pleasanton to amend the
Municipal Code of the City of Pleasanton to delete "Cardrooms" as
a permitted use in the CR(m), and as a conditionally permitted use
in the CRfp) and CC Districts in the City of Pleasanton
(Contd. Open from 11-15-88)
Mr. Swift presented his report (SE 89:11) dated January 3,
1989, regarding this matter.

Mayor Mercer declared the continued public hearing open on
this item.

Ms. Mary Murphy, 4110 Del Valle Parkway, stated she thought
this matter was finalized in October; she wanted to go on record
as still being in opposition to the elimination of cardrooms.
Mayor Mercer explained the action in October eliminated the
cardroom licensing provision and the action tonight relates to the
zoning ordinance.

There being no further testimony, Mayor Mercer declared the
public hearing closed.

It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by
Councilmember Butler, that Ordinance No. 1394, to be read by title
only and waiving further reading thereof, approving RZ-88-10, the
application of the City of Pleasanton to amend the Municipal Code
of the City of Pleasanton to delete "cardrooms" as a permitted use
in the CR(m) (Regional Commercial-mall) District, and as a
conditionally permitted use in the CR(p) (Regional Commercial-
periphery) and CC (Central Commercial) District, be introduced.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Tarver, and Mayor
Mercer

- 8 - 1-3-89
