149

There being no testimony, Mr. Mercer declared the public
hearing closed.

Mr. Tarver inquired why the maps were removed. He mentioned
that he did not see the correspondence, and it was difficult to
tell what the other agencies objected to.

Mr. Mercer explained that every City spent countless hours
trying to find a map that would pinpoint exactly where the
hazardous waste could be located. Moreover, anyone who wanted to
build a hazardous waste facility would have to come in to the
Planning Department and the City would have to designate where it
would be located. The conditions are within 2,000 ft. of a
residential district and 500 ft. of industrial buildings. In
addition, most maps become outdated when the city changes zoning.

It was moved by Ms. Mohr, and seconded by Mr. Butler, that
Resolution No. 89-320 be adopted, approving the proposed Alameda
County Hazardous Waste Management Plan.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmember Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Tarver, and Mayor
Mercer
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

Item 6j
Adjustment in Sewer Service Fees
Ms. Rossi presented her report (SR 89:324) regarding this
matter.

Mr. Mercer declared the public hearing open on the
application.

There being no testimony, Mr. Mercer declared the public
hearing closed.

Ms. Mohr commented that anything that increases less that 1%
in a year is doing very well in government.

Mr. Mercer concurred and mentioned that it was an excellent
report.

It was moved by Mr. Butler, and seconded by Mr. Brandes, that
Ordinance 1426 be introduced, to be read by title only and waiving
further reading thereof, approving the adjustment in sewer service
fees.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Tarver, and Mayor
Mercer
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

-14 -
