Mr. Gene Finch, 8019 Jorgensen Lane, thanked the Building <br />Department staff for helping him in evaluating and working out a <br />plan of implementation for his building on 649 Main Street. He <br />strongly recommended that the City enact as soon as possible <br />measures regarding unreinforced masonry building. <br /> <br /> Mr. Butler stated that it is important that staff come up <br />with a balanced approach that would meet the need for safety and <br />that property owners can handle. <br /> <br /> No action was required or taken by the Council on this item. <br /> <br />8. MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS <br />Item 8a <br />~xpiration of Term on the Housinq Authority Commission <br /> <br /> Mr. Mercer extended the application period for the vacancy on <br />the Housing Authority Commission to January 25, 1990 to give those <br />concerned more time to work on the matter. <br /> <br />Item 8b <br />Schedule Closed Session to Review City Manager Candidates <br /> <br /> The Council set Thursday, December 28, 1989, at 4:00 p.m., <br />for a Closed Session to review the City Manager candidates. <br /> <br />Item 8c <br />Appointment to the Vacancy on the Human Services Commission <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mr. Mercer, and seconded by Mr. Butler, that <br />Resolution No. 89-526 be adopted, appointing Ms. Melanie Bentley <br />as a Regular Member of the Human Services Commission and Ms. <br />Denise Howe as an Alternate Member of the Human Services <br />Commission. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Butler, Mohr, Tarver and Mayor <br /> Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> Mr. Tarver requested that staff prepare some information on <br />the controversy between Supervisor Ed Campbell and Ms. Mary King <br />regarding the guidelines for development in the County, for the <br />Council to review and take action on if appropriate. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mercer requested staff to get together with the County <br />staff working on the issue and come back with a report for the <br />next Council meeting. <br /> <br /> -19- <br /> 12-12-89 <br /> <br /> <br />
