He
inquired if the land value was considered in the per-unit cost.

Mr. Bocian replied that the kitchen's estimate of $85,000
includes the land value.

Mr. Mercer asked what the plan for the kitchen was.

Mr. Bocian replied that the Board is currently working on a
plan, and a sub-committee is looking for variable opportunities.
There is no plan at present; the developer suggested that it would
be more appropriate to develop a kitchen plan after the tenants
had already moved into the project so their interest in the meal
program could be determined. The survey has been done, and the
recommendations will be presented at the Board's meeting in April
or May.

Mr. Mercer inquired what would happen to the Ridge View
Commons kitchen when the new Senior Center's kitchen, which will
provide kitchen service, is built.

Mr. Bocian replied that the two kitchens are viewed as
separate projects and will not be used in joint fashion except for
special events. The Senior Center kitchenette will be utilized
for senior-sponsored projects that are either public or City in
nature. The Ridge View Commons kitchen is for the private use of
the facility's residents.

Mr. Mercer asked if the Ridge View Commons residents would
not go to the Center for meals.

Mr. Bocian replied that they could if they wanted to take
advantage of the City's meal program. However, a non-resident
would have no access to the Ridge View Commons kitchen.

Mr. Mercer stated that it was his understanding that there
were not enough residents in Ridge View Commons who want to go to
the Center's meal program. He inquired if it would be cost-
effective to construct one big kitchen instead of two small ones.

- 11 -
4-3-90
